Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Updated March 8: We have an update for those of you affected by the delayed tracking: We just heard back from USPS regarding the delayed tracking issue. They have confirmed that the packages are now leaving Santa Barbara and on their way to various sorting facilities. USPS explained the the items were scanned at the Santa Barbara facility, and a hiccup in their system caused them to not move beyond that point. Many of you should have seen movement from Santa Barbara today (though International orders may take a bit longer). If you do not see any movement in the next few days please reach out to our community support team or to USPS directly, as they have the most accurate and up-to-date information. We apologize for this shipping delay, and we hear all your feedback on the shipping method and the overall lack of communication. We are definitely working on improving this process and we are working with Noble to improve this shipping method on future drops. Updated March 8: Hi Everyone - Thank you all for bringing the USPS shipping delay to our attention. We have already been looking into this, and our head of logistics has been in touch with USPS and Noble. We see there has been some movement on tracking links. Apologies for not communicating this earlier to the impacted group (about 60 of the 150 in this batch were held up ominously by USPS).
I know this delay is very frustrating. As I mentioned, our team, as well as Noble’s, is looking into this and we will let everyone know as soon as we have more information.
Updated February 23: Just checking in to let everyone know that production is wrapping up for the second batch of IEMs. Noble has informed us that they are on track to ship on February 28. Thank you to everyone for their patience with this drop. We are looking forward to you all receiving the first production of the Massdrop x Noble Kaiser 10 Universal IEMs.
Updated February 9: Hi Everyone, We have a quick update on the second batch of the Massdrop x Noble Kaiser 10 Universal IEMs. Noble has informed us that production is still in progress for this batch, and we’re on track to ship the IEMs at the end of February. We’ll provide an update on February 23 with the shipping status. Updated February 2: We want to quickly clarify the confusion around coupons. The coupons were issued only to members whose IEMs were delayed until February 28. We’ve clarified this with Brannan, and we all apologize for the confusion. If you have any questions about which group you are in, please reach out to community support via your transactions page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions
Updated January 26: Hi Everyone, We have an update on the Massdrop x Noble Kaiser 10 Universal IEMs. Noble has informed us that about half of the units will start shipping to members next week, and unfortunately the other half is still in the final stages of production. The wildfire and mudslide natural disasters in Santa Barbara (where Noble is located) have made it extremely difficult for Noble to receive the necessary parts and finish production work on a predictable schedule. Noble estimates that this batch will be ready to ship to members on February 28. We will be delivering finished units based on when members joined the drop, and we've emailed all drop participants letting you know which batch you are in. For those you in the batch with the additional delay, we have worked with Noble to add a $40 coupon to your account. This coupon will be automatically applied to the next drop you join. Additionally, for those of you in the delayed group, Noble will include their new Gold x Silver cable in appreciation of everyone's patience and support. We apologize for this delay on the later batch, and we know it is extremely disappointing for everyone involved. Noble is doing everything they can to get these IEMs finished, and we are coordinating with them to ship the units as soon as possible. If you don’t want to wait the additional time, you can cancel your order via the transactions page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions
We’ll have an update on February 9 with the status of the second batch.
Instead of a $40 coupon I’d vote for a free lightning cable.
Over the past couple of months, Noble’s small home of Santa Barbara has been subject to the worst wildfire in California state history prompting multiple evacuations and (since the last update) mudslides that turned the 101 freeway into a swamp overnight resulting in a two week closure. In effort to support our local community, many of our critical components are manufactured locally and throughout Southern California. To say the natural disasters have affected our suppliers and our operations would be a gross understatement.
Despite all that’s happened, we are happy to report that a great deal of you will see tracking go live for your orders by this Wednesday, January 31st.
All orders shipping in February will include our new Noble Gold x Silver cable ($300 value) free of charge in appreciation of everyone's patience and support. This was decided prior to the latest update and it should have been mentioned in the update above.
If anyone would like to reach out to me personally for any reason I can be reached directly at brannan@nobleaudio.com.
Otherwise, we are looking forward to hearing from everyone about their experiences with their Kaiser 10.
Best,
Brannan Noble Audio
No mention of the k10 is made on the website as the k10 is only available through massdrop. If there were any updates to be made, they would be made here.
That's a terrific way to address the delay--we appreciate your generosity.
This feels like a dumb question, but is this new cable available in a 2.5mm balanced termination? Some of us opted for a balanced cable, which seems less alluring with the newer cable in the mix. I guess I understand if not (I only see a 3.5mm version on your website), but it would be much appreciated if there was somehow an option.
Thank you for staying communicative throughout the drop, and I wish you and your community well in these hard times.
If all other products are available, then assumption could be made that drivers are not the hold up
Any how, this situation is rather tenuous, as this is ultimately Massdrops territory, and we can not speak for Massdrop. Doing so could potentially harm our relationship with massdrop.
But i will submit this again, we are taking measures to move product as fast as possible and to insure this doesn't happen again. We are also taking compensatory measures as well.
The thing is, it really has boiled down to a supplier issue based in California. They do excellent work, but they are small boutique operation, much like Noble is. Due to their size any issue quickly becomes a large problem. Larger shops commonly have a cnc machine on stand by and can be used for overflow... A boutique shop doesn't have such a luxury.
Initially. I thought Knowles was going to be the slowest supplier as they typically do slow down the last quarter of the year, but due to a series of unforseen events it turned out to be a supplier in California.
All drivers are in, components are soldered, wire harnesses are ready, assembly team is ready just waiting on California. As parts come in we will assemble and ship asap.
One question: will the shipping for the first batch this week come from Noble in CA or from Massdrop (which I think ships out of NJ)?
Sincerely, the Nutty Physicist
Does "everyone" refers to every person in this drop, or refers only to every person in the 2nd batch? Since every person in this drop has shown patience and support, does this mean every person in this drop will get the Gold x Silver cable? Seems weird to me if "everyone" in the above statement refers only to those in the 2nd batch, since that will mean those in the 1st batch have not shown patience and support.
But, I'd like to see what Brannan says about it for clarification.
ALL participants have been waiting longer than what was promised.
I do appreciate these more detailed updates, however.
Don't mind waiting if I have to, though I was excited to finally be able to experience them this weekend.
I have my tracking number only because USPS tells me anytime there's a tracking number created for my address. One was created originating from Santa Barbara on 1/22, but it's been in pre-shipment status since, meaning they have yet to receive a package.
I smell something not right.
All orders shipping in February will include our new Noble Gold x Silver cable ($300 value) free of charge in appreciation of everyone's patience and support. This was decided prior to the latest update and it should have been mentioned in the update above.
With my last drop I wasn't given the tracking notification or number until the day AFTER it arrived by surprise. Packages are stolen often in my area and I'd rather that not happen again so I want clarification, especially for these.
A good (what-not-to-do) business case study.
Oh well... hopefully some lessons learnt.
Yes, $300 cable + $40 credit is way better than $80 credit, but now you have half the folks pissed off and the other half (marginally) happier.
Some folks will disagree with me for sure but they're not doing it right. I'd rather not go any further since it may invoke arguments that are off the original point and another pointless slap fight.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND I just got an update saying that mine did in fact ship out but possibly won't have a tracking number for a few days. I'm ...exhausted. This is what I initially feared. I hope I'm there whenever it's delivered and hope this trend doesn't continue with drops in the future.
Appreciate the hard work and great deal on this drop. Thanks to Noble Audio for the hard work and extras. Thanks to Massdrop for the credit and working with the best, Noble Audio. And other great companies
After I purchased the Noble 6 I was sold on the Noble Audio sound. Can’t wait to hear the buttery goodness of these Kaiser 10. Thanks again. To anyone that hasn’t received their order know it will be well worth the extra time.
We are just very perplexed why the 2nd batch gets a $40 credit and a $300 cable. Very lopsided in my opinion. So much that some (including myself) in the first batch volunteered to be in the second batch. For this to happen, clearly something is not balanced. I am sure many must had scratched their heads thinking isn't the compensation lopsided and excessive?
Perhaps there was a misscommunication: Noble thought everyone is getting a $40 credit and so decided to add a $300 cable for the 2nd batch for the extra delay. Massdrop didn't know about the cable and intended to give the $40 credit only to 2nd batch for the extra delay. When this mistake was realised, it was too late because words had already been spoken and the cable cannot be "taken back" even though the 2nd batch now gets $40 and cable. This is just my guess; I cannot help wondering what lead to such decisions.
Regardless, I am going to forget about this and not comment on this anymore.
I sent you an email and posted below with some concerns with my order I picked up today. My cable arrived defective and I think I had some missing items. Would love if you could reach out to me when you have a chance to review. thanks.
I'm affected by this as well. Has their been some kind of delay at the post office in Santa Barbara? There seems to be a gap somewhere between Noble, USPS, and Massdrop
Meanwhile my friend, who is also from Hong Kong, got it already. His tracking looks entirely different (see attached) - his actually arrives at the Santa Barbara distribution center on Feb 28, and then reaches LA on Mar 1. I'm OK if they told us we had to wait longer or there's another delay, but I want to know the truck holding our units didn't go MIA on its way to the first checkpoint... Sent a support ticket and Massdrop just asks me to wait 6 weeks first before asking them....... really, thats the way you treat us after this delay and for such a big ticket size item?
Side note, is there signature on these? If they end up in my customs I'm wondering if I should change it to my work address in case I'm not home. Can't risk them being sent back. I want the headphones, not just a refund. This whole thing is getting crazy. Especially since someone mentioned the packages might be damaged to weather which I'd find weird because they should be safely inside a vehicle or warehouse.
I know this delay is very frustrating. Our team, as well as Noble’s, is looking into this and we will let everyone know as soon as we have more information.
"In transit" is an automatic update when the package haven't been scan for in 18 hour or so. It also will automatic update 3 times before going silence, which is exactly what happen here. Since it's never scan as depart from Santa Barbara, it's probably stuck there. I hope it's just a delay and it will arrive soon. But please, consider using upgrade service or change shipping partner next time.
Now, it seems strange that a delivery date of March 3rd should ever have been indicated on the USPS tracking site, but this rep did not sound high on glue so I'm inclined to believe what he said.
I may call them back for more info, but he did indicate that the info on the tracking site is exactly the same info he has, and he read it off to me in the message and did not seem as disturbed as I have been that the tracking stopped on Saturday. As paranoid and suspicious as I tend to be, I may just try to not let this occupy my every waking thought and see what the weekend brings...
I'm afraid we can't compensate you for the cable since it was a no-cost addition since the drop itself was delayed. We're only able to refund what you paid.
You should see the refund in 2-3 business days.
Again, I do apologize for the inconvenience. If there's any other issues you'd like to discuss, please let me know. Best, Zachary
Massdrop you suck. This is beyond unacceptable and I will no longer be using the service.
@bangkokkid @Dovahkiin @AveryC Sorry, I'm not one to get screwed over 3 times then bends over a fourth. I'm done buying on Massdrop, and if I see anything interesting I will be posting the competitors price I buy at since in 80% of drops there is shit value and can be found cheaper elsewhere.
I've supported this site(for years) because they occasionally put out a unique product, but since they cant seem to deliver on that lately there's literally ZERO reason to me to spend money here. It's a shame and hopefully someone can take this business model and actually make it work. Until then, I'll be using Amazon or calling manufacturers directly as they TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
