edit: at least they ended up here, thankfully. of course, the tracking page still says 'pending'.
- so i should've gotten my wizard editions today, only for fucking fedex smartpost to nuke that. according to them, they're in transit to the post office but oh the last update was yesterday. and now there's no estimated delivery, just a status that reads 'pending'.
y'know, i'd quite happily pay for shipping just to avoid smartpost.

Al3mbic
Scratched IEMs are well loved IEMs ;P
Anyone selling a pair of these? Missed the drop and would love to get my hands on them.

Please stop shouting. No need for the all caps, mate ;-)
Result, good work all
Dear massdrop, I think you should reduce the total target of buyer or committed to about 20 pieces because you add another drop that's Campfire Audio Lyra ll and this may be inescapably competitor drop, I own Noble X and it was very good sound IEMs at this price range and think that noble x wizard design is the same. Hope to be considered. Edit : The recent situation is likely to be successful drop yeah.
I must say I love my Noble Xs, but this is the 4th time a cooler model of the same drop had come out after I race to get onto the first drops. I may have to delete my account to stop you from one upping yourselves.
These or should I wait for a new Plus drop?
Gersh
I’d get these, at least in my opinion.
Gersh
I have a friend that has the original Noble X and when I sampled them I really enjoyed them. Their frequency response is right up my alley.
Hi, any can explain "Noble Audio's warranty"? Thanks
Wow, this price drop will make it the most cost effective IEMs, I just joined this drop as well and hopefully this drop will complete.
That price drop is really making me want to bite at these...
jaydunndiddit
Yep, looks even more delicious now.
jaydunndiddit
Right? damn.
I'm really tempted to buy these can anyone persuade me? I have a pair of MEE Pinnacle P1 but they hurt my ears to much to use for long periods of time regardless of what tips I use. I bought the MEE's to use when I go out to sea for long periods of time but due to discomfort I discarded that idea and got a pair of Aeon closed back. Thinking on it taking a high end pair of headphones like that on a ship (work, not cruise) may not be the best idea. I know Noble makes some really good IEMS and I was going to save for a pair of high end IEMS but I run into the same issue as the aeons. I plan to drive these with an iFi DSD BL nano. I really like the look of these, the limited availability and the fact they're made by noble are making these really hard to pass up.
EDIT: Saw them CA Lyra II drop and it was a no brainer to get those. Thanks for all the replies.

Yeah! The LCD2 is supposed to be rather good but the weight is kinda throwing me off it for the minute. The Aeons were my first planar. Love that planar sound!
MisterNobody
My motto is, if your going to buy something use it. Aeons are expensive sure, but listening to them is the most important part! These iems are iffy to me as they are only 2 BA in a housing made from aesthetically pleasing material. I would check out the lyra 2 that just went up today, they are more expensive but are made out of a more durable housing.
So, can someone sell me on IEMs that cost more than $200? It's tough for me to mentally justify IEMs costing so much. Perhaps why the cost can be so high when I'd expect frequency range response to be worse than your typical 40mm+ since bass tends to need larger drivers to get better sounding low range (and of course more power and more some for a home theater subwoofer). I also personally dislike the feeling of IEMs, but I get the practical ideas behind an in-ear option (I just can't handle it well).
I'm willing to admit my thinking/reasoning is wrong, just curious as to what makes such small devices cost so much?

It really boils down to driver type, honestly. balanced armature's are getting better at delivering bass but are still typically bass-light compared to a dynamic driver. Hency, why they have hybrid IEMs that utilize both. Audeze has even brought out a planar IEM, which is pretty bonkers when you think about it. They make some IEMs that are focused on the low-end and it feels like it's going to rattle your eyeballs outta your head. I'm a closet basshead but it's too much for me. I have a Atmos setup that has 2 subs (front and back) with 7 floor-standing loudspeakers so if I need a ton of bass I use my home stereo system.
IEM durability is also pretty good nowadays. With more and more housings being made all out of metal, they can take more abuse than most cans. I have dropped and stepped on my fare share (even washed a pair once) and they have held out well. I can't begin to tell you how many yokes, sliders, and headbands have broken on my over-ears over the years.
In terms of comfort, it really boils down to finding the shape for your ear. I prefer anything tear-drop shaped as anything else rubs and is beyond comfortable. Same with tips. I normally use a triple-flange but prefer silicon over foam most of the time. Foam puts more pressure in my ear and just gets uncomfortable for long sessions.
Personally, IEMs these days compare very well to headphones. There's so many variations and configurations and exotic designs not to be. And just like most headphones, they offer their own unique sound just like dynamic vs. orthos/planars vs. electrostatic in headphones. The same tech exists for IEMs but with IEMs you get multiple drivers reminiscent of a loudspeaker so their frequency ranges can vary wildly. That's the fun in it, really is sampling all the new and evolving tech as I feel headphones aren't in the same way unless you're in some ridiculous boutique price bracket.
Brosefstalin42
Don't buy it unless you really enjoy music A LOT. If you really really music, any slight upgrade would means a lot to you.
If the only difference is design I will pass....... my set without the design came unglued one one side. I superglued it together and it works again.
i would have to see some JH products offered her.
Any chance to buy the lighting cable alone ? Thx
busyworkshop
I have one for sale
Any chance that I (and other interested Massdrop members) can buy just the balanced cable? I was in on the initial drop for the Massdrop x Noble X, but the cable wasn't offered at that time.

Those cross border mail boxes look good
Kbaum
Just too bad to pay so much for something to cross an ideological line...
When checking out, you only have the option to add the $40 lightning cable, but I need the balanced. Can you fix it? Do I need to specify somewhere else? Wish these would have been a 3 BA pair for this price at least to know they are something different from the regular Nobel X which I already have. Stil, they are beautiful!
Nosaj1969
@Nosaj1969, we just added the balanced cable to this drop. Thanks for the request!
Yes, I see but I talked about the sound. I thought the sound of The X Wizard would be similar to the the sound of Sage... Or better...
Kyo9999
if Only. Try to find a cheap Savant. its better in every way.
The original Massdrop x Noble X iems were just $249... this is just a cosmetic difference and it's $150 more? Unless there is something significantly different in performance... pass.
Joebobbillyfrank
Unfortunately, the design makes no difference on the sound.
Joebobbillyfrank
Assembled by virgins for purer and uncontaminated sound...$150 is a bargain
Any word on how these compare against the Etymotic ER4 XR? I'm assuming more boosted bass/mids, which i'm ok with, i'm just afraid that if its boosted too much there will be a sacrifice in clarity/detail. I have no experience with Noble's so i have no idea what their 'house' sound is like. I do tend to prefer a decent V shaped balance with an emphasis on clarity/detail 1st and soundstage 2nd.

So Savant or Sage?
Kyo9999
The Savant fits better, the Sage has the shorter nozzle. coming from the ER4, get the Savant. The bass is more present on the Sage and the highs are more detailed but soundstage Is a little wider on the Savant due to the less pronounced bass. I like the Savant mids more. You can’t lose with either you should look at the Noble Savanna as well Around this price point.
These, well really the previous x ones are so short I can’t get a decent fit/seal at all.
Ugh. I’ve been waiting to get any noble drop here, but my cat recently had to go to a vet for stress, and conincidently, the bill was $400. Thats why I can’t have nice things :(

aww. Give him loads of blankets and hideous smelly fish-based food. That usually makes any cat feel better.
I've pretty good things about the edc3. I end up using the x mainly for film (is great with horror movies).
Curieux88
Hope your cat's ok. Yes blood work and such adds up. This drop it a better one will happen again.
How will this sound vs the Nuforce EDC3? There's a very stark price difference since the EDC3 is just 99USD, while this is 399USD. Furthermore, the EDC3 has 3 BAs per ear while this one has 2. The price is so high for this one cause of its limited release? Or is the sound worth the tag?

The amount of armatures have less to do about sound vs. their tuning and crossovers. The EDC3 is being touted as more balanced/neutral and these like the old Noble X's are more warm sounding. The high cost of these appears to be the materials used to make them as they look like one solid piece with no seams. They're also smaller than the old Noble so ergonomics and seal will likely be improved.

The Below is from the New Force Discussion, posted by NuForce.

Jyri357Follow Nuforce 3D Of course not. HEM6 has way more expensive drivers, higher end braided cable, more sophisticated crossover design, different tuning and more accessories. Driver selection is the main difference though. The HEM6 drivers cost roughly 3 times more to procure. We could never sell HEM6 with $99. Our own manufacturing cost is higher than that. Does the HEM6 have better performance than EDC3? Yes. Is the performance 3x better? That is subjective - as always with high end audio. However I have to say... To be able to manufacture and sell 3BA driver IEM at $99 is not easy. It took us more than 2 years to find a driver combination which is up to our (and Massdrop´s) standards in terms of reliability, production tolerance as well as sonic performance. With both EDC and EDC3 we promise L+R channel balance within +/-2dB. Not all sub $100 IEMs have similar tolerance control. We had to redesign EDC´s driver production method to be able to deliver this! Also, we would not be able to sell EDC or EDC3 at $99 without Massdrop.
If these are ordered with the extra Lightning cable, is the standard cable included as well? If not can it be ordered separately?
RayL
Yes the standard cable is included as well.
Jaw dropped! Just bought the Noble X off ebay a month ago. We're going to have to wait a month or two to actually get reviews of this Noble X Wizard
HenriLoaded
This is purely a cosmetic upgrade so all the current reviews will be applicable in the sound department...
what's the difference between this and noble x?

So like Savant, this fit very well !
instead of the massive aluminum faceplate you get a much flatter designed faceplate. It’s also lighter. The nozzle is also a bit short, kinda weird ergonomics wise.
It's similar to Sage ?

Yeah, this drop is just about design.

Ok! Not for me! ;)
