Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

When I first purchased my HD650s I was using a NuForce Icon DAC with my headphones. The HD650s sounded great (though warmer than my HD600s) with the Icon; not super open compared to other headphones I owned, but I wouldn’t say veiled. The next amp I purchased was an OG Schiit Magni. The HD650s sounded rather poor on that amp when compared to the Icon. The life felt like it was being sucked out of them: very veiled. Enter the Asgard 2 and the 650s were back. My next amp was a Little Dot MK II. Paired with the Voskhod tubes in the LD II the 650s were the most open and awake that I'd ever heard them (OG Modi was doing DAC duties). The 650s paired really well with the Valhalla 2 as well (Bifrost MB for DAC). Again, not very open sounding, but not veiled. I especially like them with the Amperex Bugle Boys. I tried the Magni 2U somewhere along the way and found it uninspiring as well with the HD650s. Then I picked up a Jotunheim with the OG balanced DAC module and a balanced cable. This was certainly a moment for the HD650s. I was very surprised at how much better they sounded; better than I’d ever heard them before. The thing I noticed was how much more alive and open they sounded I added the new MB DAC module to the Jot when it was released, and that was an improvement as well. The icing on the cake was when I got my hands on a Woo WA3. When I plugged the 650s into the Woo and began to listen I just started grinning from ear to ear. Then I spent hours listening to my favorite music. Using the Jot as my DAC/pre-amp into the Woo is my favorite way to listen to them, and I can’t imagine what it might take (probably a lot of $$$) to make them sound better. Openness, power, clarity with warmth, dynamics; it’s just a great pairing. I should also add that the new Magni 3 is an excellent pairing for the HD600, HD650/HD6XX, HD660S, HD700, HD800S and lots of other cans as well.
I can’t wait to run the HD58X on my setup. I’ll probably go with the Jot balanced out or the Little Dot MK II. The 150ohm cans don’t pair as well with the Woo unless I roll in some different tubes.
