after owning this one for nearly a year, I just wanna say that this headset apparently NEED amplification to really shine.
at first, I tried plugging directly to motherboard and I barely hear footsteps.
Then I bought O2 amp, footsteps improved but doesn't solve the entire problem.
Bought the usb dac (mine is smsl idea) and magically the problem solved. Footsteps loud and clear, directional sound and accuracy are amazing.
L0L0L0L0L0Lhow did you separate the microphone and the audio input for pluging it into the smsl idea ?
(I haven't already my headset but i'm looking for an external amp for it...)
sirsoswagthis headset has audio and mic jack separated.
My setup:
Pc37x > O2 amp > USB DAC
as for mic, I just plugged it directly to motherboard, no complaint about the quality, although it can't compare to a standalone XLR mic, my teammates thought the voice quality is better than average.
L0L0L0L0L0Li'm using the nuforce dac-3. also from massdrop. the foot steps sounds are really penetrating i often hear someone from upstairs or on the other side of the wall. the amount of details i hear is crazy.
sirsoswagbest I could find are Fiio Q1 or FX-audio x6 for decent dac/amp under 70
if you wanna try your luck, go for DIY chinese dac/amp under 50 at ebay or aliexpress
sirsoswagalso I found this on amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01FQHBDI4?psc=1
it has good chip, which is ess sabre 9023
downside is that it seems to be dac only, so you might need to buy separate headphone amp.
that said, buying cheap audio stuff is practically relying alot from your luck, you either get hidden gems or just worthless pebbles lol
L0L0L0L0L0Lso i receive my headset and i working prefectly...
the thing is when i frist plug it to my pc it's was perfectly loud my music was clear etc
but i launch a cs go game and all the guns were way to loud but the footsteps were pretty silent...
it that was the same thing with you or it was quiet all the time ?
sirsoswagNow you know lol
Maybe it was a design flaw. Original pc373d came with usb soundcard. Probably they weren't tuned to be used with low power output from onboard soundcard.
That's my suspicion.
sirsoswaggive it some time to burn in or get seasoned. now everything is solid and clear. even footsteps from upstairs or around the corner can be heard clearly. i love this headset. well. until the jubilee arrive anyways. lol
sirsoswagI'm not a fortune teller, but i think after playing rain sounds, white noise and pink noise on youtube can help your headphone break in faster. You can try those or just use it everyday. It gets better after a while.
bsastorhmmm after a straight 10 hours of ping noise my headset sound the same... maybe a bit more of high...
I will still take a cheap usb amp/dac... I want to hear more the base who sound weak and i want an overhall clearer sound.
