There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. 1. This collab uses French full grain calf skin which is is considered by many to be the most desirable type of European cow leather. This is a big part of the reason why several high end leather goods brands originated in france (Hermes, LV). The Miller uses Italian calf skin and specifically pebbled leather to hide imperfections in the leather, whereas the Massdrop X British Belt Co. uses smooth leather which means the quality of the leather is all the more important. 2. On craftsmanship, the hides are tanned and prepared for treatment at the tannery, then they’re passed to British Belt who does all the dying, finishing, and burnishing by hand. British Belt Co. has various levels of finishing and burnishing, this belt applies all of their highest quality level processes. As an example, the Miller belt is not burnished whereas this collab is.
