I owned (for 48 hours) the MH40. Not only were they very uncomfortable, they were cheaply made and sounded dull as dirt compared to my AKG QJ 7xx headphones, or my Shure IEM's. I mean seriously, missing top 4 octaves dull. The ear pads are too small, and the head band is just one hard band across your head.
TercoI did see Amazon cut prices on these, but probably missed those hard slashes. I checked with Keepa now, it went as low as $150, which is definitely a steal, but even at $179. Getting wireless though, I'd probably invest more and go for Panda, but these are really tempting.
I'd like to say that unfortunately the M&D line up are not very comfortable headphones to use. I've owned the Mh40s and returned them almost immediately. The clamp and the size of the ear cup are just unbearable.
zen7I would say it definitely depends on shape and size of head, as if anything, I find the clamp to be on the almost-too-loose side for my head, and the ear cup is plenty roomy enough for my ears, which are definitely not small but larger than average. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
zen7interesting. i have the mh40s also and think they are pretty comfortable on my noggin. the headband is admittedly a bit thin, but i put wraps ($10 woven cloth thingie from amazon) on all my headbands for comfort and as a sweat/oil catcher. mh40 clamp force seemed fine to me, and the ear cup size was deep, tall and wide enough for me as well. (fwiw i have pretty sensitive ears -- i can't wear cans if the driver touches my ear or if the inner wall aggravates my piercings.)
obviously everyone has different preferences, though. :)
Unless you're a die hard to get the headphone stand, these are currently going for the same price (Less for the red option) on Amazon. I'm totally pro massdrop but for this price I'd be more than willing to go through amazon to try them out with their simple returns if you decide you didn't like them.

CAL_08Good catch, I had not noticed that they had gone that low on Amazon, although the brown leather variant is still $399 on Amazon. The price will probably hover around this price given the new MW65 (ANC) model Master & Dynamic just introduced.
ItsMrChristianthe current price disparity between these ($150) and the momentum wireless 3 ($350) is substantial enough that they are in different categories, in my opinion.
A pretty good price for really good headphones that sound even better wired than wireless (although wireless is quite good), but that stand is useless for these headphones unless you like having a big, visible indentation in the leather underside of the headband where its rests against the merciless, hard, bare metal.
I have three of these stands because Best Buy was clearing them out for $17 a pop, and they are extremely sturdy and I use them for other headphones (like my AKG K712) because I'm not about to ruin my Master & Dynamic headphones on their own stand. :P
TheThrillaM&D does drop it to $150 now for sales, I got another pair December 26, 2019, for $150 directly from them, but $200 is now the new normal, whereas $450 was original MSRP. I think they are competitive at $199. At $149, I call them a bargain.
You might be right, I’ve found a tread on Head-fi with owners that confirmed that it was supporting AAC. But it’s strange why M&D doesn’t list this on the specification. AAC is free as far as I know.
Twinster_SG@Twinster_SG Yes, Head-Fi owners were able to confirm using a Mac utility. Also, I find SBC degrades the audio quality noticeably and I don't detect that at all with these headphones.
