I'm afraid to join the drop because other drops show and describe a cast iron handle, but I understand that other drops described with a cast iron handle had a painted steel one instead. I am afraid this would not match the other cast iron handled Mauviel in my house.

JCJCJCI was curious about this as well. I know the electroplated SS versions do look similar, but this image and the description are of a cast iron handle. I guess it can always be returned if the product does not match the description. It is unreal that the same product is $710 in the stores.

kstokleyThere was a drop on the frying pans(10") that sold out in 30 mins. Will massdrop be selling mauviel frying pans again, 12" possibly? The last drop for those was almost a year ago...

Can you please be specific about the models being offered? From the pic, it looks like the Mauviel M250C Copper Curved Splayed Sauté Pan. This pan usually comes with a lid. Can you confirm this?

kingcomanche666This is a sauteuse. What I learned many years ago when I bought mine was that they're intended for reductions, which accounts for the splayed sides--it increased the area of the liquid subject to evaporation, which helps speed up the process. A lid would be contrary to what I believe was its intended purpose, although differing cooking practices over time may have altered assumptions and support the need for a lid.

What is meant by 'double' cast-iron handle? The handle looks similar to other Mauviel pans that aren't described as having 'double' handles.
And based on other drops for Mauviel pans with 'cast iron handles' - will these pans really come with cast iron handles or will they be cast stainless steel with an iron look finish?
