@ponagathos, @j.a.l -- Yes, tritium tubes are way too expensive for what they are, imo.
I'm not saying the price is dishonest or a deliberate ripoff, just that it's more than I'm willing to pay for a couple of tiny bars of colored light on something I'd have in my pocket most of the time and wouldn't even look at often.
Amazon shows the tubes priced over $20 each for 2mmx12mm size, which seems insane to me. $2000 worth of them fit in the palm of your hand! Maybe there's a market for an entrepreneurial American to begin producing them in the US, possibly by hand for lower overhead to start. Might be able to bring the prices down.
OmniseedI've been absolutely blown away by the quality of my WE and Reate manufactured knives. I've had to triple my knife budget over the last few months because of all the awesome collaborations massdrop has put together.
Just buy the OLFA 26B knife on Amazon for $7. It’s steel, black finish and small. Not an EDC for me but if this style is what you’re looking for then you might want to check out some of the OLFA knives. They are made in Japan. I have three different ones that I use. You can get the utility ones at Lowe’s with replacem blades
Sooooo...... Have any changes been made to this to address the overwhelmingly negative reviews?
Or is MassDrop just enjoying making a buck out of selling us known crappy items now?
So much for community focused and vetted quality 🙄
I mean, i get offering an item the first time and having no idea how it'll play out, but why would you even bring back a 2 star item??
Losing faith at an alarming rate these last couple months....😟
Bought it, rather disappointed. I was really looking forward to getting it, too, just to have a wee utility knife that would allow me get stuff quickly and be on my merry way.
In order to deploy the blade, you have unscrew the threaded locking nub. If tightened, you cannot move the blade forward to deploy it. I left it in a position that allowed me access the blade as I needed on the move, and it came apart in my pocket, with all the the tiny springs and parts going everywhere when I pulled out my wallet, gone in less than a day.
$40 for this? I will be reluctant to purchase more of their products.
is anyone worried about the threads on that screw attached to the disk. they seem small and every time you use the blade you have to loosen the screw , slide the mechanism and re-tighten, then repeat in reverse to put it away. I would worry about being left with a striped part which is not easily replaceable.
lobsterI didn't like unscrewing the screw and it would probably unscrew by itself and get lost, since I attach this to my keychain.
So I used locktite and tightened the screw when the slider is between two of the holes with enough slack so when the release button is pressed, the blade can slide freely. I also used some silicone lubricant which helps the mechanism to move easier. The force of the spring is enough to hold the blade in open or closed position. In my opinion this little knife should have been designed so when the screw is at maximum tightness it should work like I adjusted it in my description above. You have to be really careful with this thing to avoid cutting yourself with it if the blade can't be move easily enough since it's so small and hard to get a proper grip.
