Quality build. Tight symmetrical coil
Be warned, you will need a powered USB Hub to use this cable with most motherboards when using a Drop ALT/CRTL/SHIFT. The power draw of the keeb, the length of the cable, and the power output of most USB 3.X ports on most modern MoBo's do not play well together. Other than this, this is a BEAUTIFUL cable.

Stopped working after 5 months
Very good looking cable. I loved it while it lasted. The USB-C end became loose and eventually the cable stopped working. Not worth the $69 USD price point for the build quality. Edit: Thanks Sam for getting in touch. A replacement was sent to me for free (except for shipping). The new cable is just a good looking with redesigned metal connector at the USB-C side. Thanks again for the customer service.

lsddaHi Isdda! I am glad you liked the cable but I am sorry to hear that there were issues with the USB C becoming loose. Please reach out to us with your order information (contact@mechcables.com) and we can discuss a replacement. We now have color matched aluminum CNC housings that should prevent the same issue from occurring.

Good looking cable, cheap feeling usb-c
The cable looks great, but the USB-C is wobbly and feels kinda cheap.

I received my cable weeks ago and thought it was great. Somehow I only just got to actually plugging my new keyboard in and discovered that I had ordered the Mini USB variant. I have no idea why I would have ordered anything other than USB-C and it pains me that I can't use an otherwise great cable. Be VERY careful when ordering so that you don't make the same mistake I did.

Defect or Compatibility Issue
It's nice custom cable but it doesn't work with my keyboard for whatever reason. I don't have any RGBs so there's no reason for it to be a power issue. Maybe it's a defected product but still very disappointing.

Didn’t work but Mechcables made it right
I bought this to go with my space gray Drop CTRL V2 mechanical keyboard. I even got the Drop x teamwolf stainless steel keycaps. What gets me is that in the pictures of the Drop CTRL V2 mechanical keyboard there’s a similar cord. I was going for the all gray/stainless look. There should really be a power rating in the details/specs. The keyboard rgb lights would flicker and I wasn’t able to type. When I put the cord with my Corsair k65 mini and it worked fine. Edit: I’ll keep my rating as is since the cord didn’t work for my intended purpose. It does function with a less powerful keyboard though. I urge Drop and mechcables to add power ratings to the descriptions here. I reached out to mechcables customer service. Sam was very helpful and suggested possible solutions for the cable to work with my keyboard. Unfortunately, it still didn’t work but Sam offered to replace my cable.

Pretty Sure it's DOA
My cable came in today and I attempted to use it to setup my new CTRL V2 keyboard but it would not register the board whatsoever besides the LED's. When I used the factory cable that came with the keyboard I got setup with no issue. Tried playing around with the coiled cable and different ports with little success besides the ports directly off the motherboard occaisionally registering 1/10 keystrokes and occasionally getting stuck when the switch wasn't even depressed. Seems to be pretty poor Q/A on these cables for something so pretty to be inferior to some bleh boring stock cord.

Disappointing Purchase
Firstly, I do want to say I'm extremely satisfied with my ALT Keyboard and I also bought the ALT Carrying case and the ALT wrist rest, so this review is solely based on the USB Cable and not Drop. With that being said, I was very disappointed to find out the cable requires additional power (via power USB - whatever that is, still need to do research). When I plugged it in out of the box my keyboards bright, beautiful lighting dimmed dramatically. I literally spent 2 hours thinking I set up my PC wrong and took it apart thinking the power wasn't being drawn correctly. Then I read some of the other reviews and saw the keyboard requires a lot of power that the cable can't deliver on it's own. If this is the case it should've been made clear with the product description or at least come with the power USB attachment. I'm new to the keyboard world - this info is important to consumers, especially those purchasing cosmetic purchases. I wouldn't have known better. I would've given this 1 star but the cord itself is good quality. The functionality of the cable is what is disappointing and I will likely to keep it stashed in a drawer now.

Appreciate this so much, I was looking into purchasing something similar elsewhere thinking it was this model of the cable and not the fact that it's the length. Your last sentence would've been my next one, don't sell an item that doesn't completely work with your keyboards!

cazaresjI could be wrong, but my guess is that if you plugged, say, a GMMK Pro keyboard in with this, it would work fine. I think the length is the problem here, but coiled cables are pretty standard, and this is a reasonable length for most boards. A 3-5 foot straight cable seems to be the sweet spot for Drop's.

Dead on Arrival, poor QA!
I have had this sitting in its box since I bought it. I pulled it out today and there was no connection. Put it in my USB tester and tracked down the problem to the coil. The D- line shorts out depending on the position of that coil. Very disappointed.
