Product Description
Easily install a balanced cable on your MMCX IEMs without the hassle of changing the cable on the IEM shells. This cable’s 2.5-millimeter balanced termination can be alternated with adapters for 3.5-millimeter single-ended, 3.5-millimeter balanced, or 4.4-millimeter balanced Read More
$99 for OFC cable, really MD, you gotta be kidding me! Guys, this cable is not better than the one supplied with UE900S or any other pair of IEMs with MMCX connector, for this much money it has to be OCC, make that UPOCC for a Chinese supplier.
Power is only one part of it. If it's a low/medium impedance can that doesn't have a wild current or voltage requirement, going balanced still yields better crosstalk, better SNR, and less noise/hum over SE. And to top it all off balanced will yield much higher voltages than SE which is beneficial between amps/preamps/etc. when we're not even factoring in balanced headphones.
Balanced is more than a gimmick depending on how you entire system is setup. Like I said earlier, my psuedo balanced gear from iFi and Fiio fits what you're talking about. But the higher end balanced gear I've listened to is true to being fully balanced in every sense. The setup also cost closer to $4k which is way too rich for my blood so I only get to sample it at my friend's house.
I honestly implore you to have some seat time with a proper balanced setup and listen for yourself. Not out of something like a Fiio Q1 mk2 or some DAP, but a proper desktop system utilizing the proper interconnects and sources.
jaydunndidditI'm using 34 year old 600 ohm Sennheisers... they're so black when it comes to background hum, there's absolute zero, and it is bliss. But really even on SE amps, background hum should not be a thing if your amp is half decent, and that's what turning down the gain knob is for. Still can't recommend balanced, because of it's pricing
I mean, I got the Shures from Massdrop in like 2015 for like $300 and I still like them a lot. I just needed a new cable because my old one broke. I think it's pretty cringe how you spent time to type a paragraph telling strangers on the internet how cringe they are. You feel good about yourself? lol
the2armedmanHonestly bro I really feel like a God ever since I got the FA9, and I won’t hesitate to let everyone know that as often as I can. Especially in the headphones subreddit, you can see what headphones people have bought because they put it in their flair, I’ll see someone with like Anole’s or hd800s, etc. and I’ll go “my FA9s blow your headphones out of the water”
If you bought them back then then I apologize, because back then those were great. I remember when the most expensive pair of headphones I had were like $50 headphones and I thought I would never in 1 million years be able to have my hands on a pair of shures or ie800/800s. Well, look now those are outdated and sound like 50 dollar headphones now compared to my FA9, how the tables have turned, who’s laughing now? 🤩😊
Just received this and tried them out on my Campfire Audio iems. The adapters work great, and are undoubtedly the best feature of the product. The MMCX connectors, on the other hand, have been really loose and unreliable.
The MMCX joint is not able to form a tight connection with the iems, and the sound cuts out intermittently whenever I slightly move my head. Anyone else having this problem?
I tried them with my Shure IEMs after seeing your comment, and to be fair, they do seem to work fine with the SE215s (connection is secure). So maybe it's a compatibility issue? In any case, I think I will hold on to mine for the time being and use them as a back-up.
Could these work with some etymotic er2xr iems? I just ordered some and also have a btr5 coming in the mail and I would like to know if a) these would work with those and b) would going Balanced be worth it for those iems? Thank you guys I love drop lol
DapperDanManDouble no. ER series has a proprietary mmcx connector unfortunately. It’s er2xr, so the benefits won’t be huge but nonetheless, since it balanced, it will make it louder, which will make it seem worth it.
hmm I guess I deserve this comment if I skipped the blue box stating the $20 off heh.
Also guessing OHSNAP is not the US and has to pay for shipping if it came out to be $55...
sixkIt is because it applies a $20 coupon at checkout. You'll see it if you go through the drop/options. Yeah, I'm in the USA. I jumped on it, I actually was going to pick it up off Amazon a few days ago, glad I didn't, and waited for it to come back up on Massdrop.
