Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

These are not electrostatic cans, no matter how much as they want to make people think they are. They're similar, but very much so not the same. If they don't require an amp with enough voltage to fry an elephant, imho they ain't real electrostatics. ^^
That and why pay 350+ for these, when you can pay 500-1000 and get Electrostatic cans and amp with a 'limited lifetime' warranty from KOSS (similar from STAX, not sure about warranty) and glowing reviews (for over 25 years).
All of that said, these cans are visually pleasing. Thus the kind of want.
I do know the KOSS are dead sexy; both in clarity and build quality. Every time I run into them at a HiFi shop I have to do a serious save vs. willpower. If you know what I mean. ^^
The Koss phones are much larger than the M&J. That may or may not be a plus. The amp that has to be lugged around with the Koss means they can't easily be hooked to everything. Just different products.
Had a chance to compare the Koss to the M&J MJ2 briefly. The guy was using the Koss with a modified Stax amp. They sounded great. A little bigger/airier (possibly because of the open back). Mids and highs of the two were similar sounding. Not exactly the same. The MJ2 are a little more focused sounding. The MJ2 bass had more dynamic punch. The bass is tight and just slightly warm. Both headphones sound great.
