Founded in the early 1900s, Montblanc started out making high-quality fountain pens, which naturally led to watchmaking. The Star Date is a great example of the company’s expertise. The layout is very simple, but the details make the watch a true standout. The first thing you’ll notice are the vintage Arabic numerals, like something you might see in a 19th-century newspaper. Next is the dial. Sporting an undulating guilloché pattern, the dial emanates out from the Montblanc logo at 6 o’clock, as if somebody dropped a star-shaped stone into a still pond. Blued hands complement the silvery white dial, and the onion-style crown completes the dressy look.
