So, had a chance to look this up a bit more. Unlike the twinfly, this isnβt an in-house movement. Modified valjoux 7753 with a GMT module. Videos I found were circa 2012, so this is a watch that has sat around for a few years. Good news is pretty much anyone can service it, bad news is it does kind of affect the value I see here. Seems to be a solid well made piece, but Iβm on the fence. I like the lume on all the register hands, I donβt have a chrono with a gmt, and the movement is probably at least Top grade. I donβt like the 24 hour ring and the day/night indicator. Lopsided and assymetrical. Wish it had an inner rotating bezel controlled by one of the chrono pushers or at 10 oβclock. Thoughts?
WatchyoutalkingaboutWhat I did regarding this one was getting a Bulova Accu Swiss chronograph which happens to use the same movement (without GMT), but costing around $600.00 USD from Amazon. Just check which vendor offers warranty...
Nowadays, when I'm getting an ETA movement, I check where can I get the best price, because in the end, the movement is the same (except the level) but anyway those can be adjusted for better accuracy.
Valjoux with GMT may not be that common, but that's not a complication I really dig for...
If I'll pay more, it will be only for on house calibers or hard to get calibers...

MarPablwas It this one? I picked it up on amazon late last year for $399
MarPablYou too! I was actually looking at that model as well. Those bulovas from the accu Swiss and accutron lines were the last Swiss automatics made by bulova! Right after those came out, bulova only had myota automatics because theyβre owned by Citizen, and then they switched entirely to quartz. Good deals to be had in this final run if you can find them.
WatchyoutalkingaboutYes π with that Bulova & the Maurice LaCroix I'm done regarding the Valjoux π
Now I'm passing this Montblanc si I can get later an automatic Chrono from Seiko
WatchyoutalkingaboutI see now what you are talking about. These pictures are horrific, so hard to see. Kind of a strange design choice, why the asymmetrical choice?
WatchyoutalkingaboutMontblanc makes superlative watches in my opinion, this is one that you'll regret passing up I think, if you do. I got to enjoy the basic Timewalker on a leather nato for a day it was very luxurious indeed... just extremely well made. It's not the movement you're paying for, it's the caliber of construction, shall we say...personally I would not fret over the lack of a rotating bezel for a 3rd time zone, is that something you would use? And it is I think a feature one would expect on a pure GMT watch, while this is a combination watch with a chrono. A second bezel would completely change the look, and no point rotating the 24 hour bezel when you just change the GMT hand. I think it's pretty awesome the way it is, and you won't find it at this price anywhere else that I can see. Also I think the gold on grey with a few red accents is very nice, and not a combo you see very often
MarPablThis is a pretty uncommon caliber from what I've seen the 7754 with GMT and chrono... don't see it all that often and Montblanc makes very very nice watches. Well worth the premium, esp on the price of this drop
Glen8Yes this caliber is uncommon indeed, I joined this one https://drop.com/buy/79978
Which has practically the same features... So I'm passing on this one.
MarPablWow, that twinfly is something special alright, how much was that drop? Is it all you expected it to be? I can see why you're perfectly satisfied, for sure!
Glen8Yes I like so much that β it's drop was $2,900.00 ππ
This particular drop went live maybe a little bit after the twinfly, hopefully the twinfly will drop again ππ€
