Product Description
The Swedish-made Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty isn’t the lightest knife on the market. But at 4.1 inches long and more than 3 millimeters thick, the carbon steel blade is tougher than most knives in its weight class Read More

I was hoping for more of a deal here. I just checked Amazon, and see the orange version for 17.95, and the green for 20.47. As I am already a prime subscriber, those prices include 2 day shipping. This drop, 29.99 with 7.75 shipping and handling works out to being slightly cheaper than either two green or one of each, or slightly more expensive than a pair of orange knives. Between the pricing, the fact that you can choose to order single knives at amazon, the fact that this depends on enough people ordering this deal, and that if I were to order from Amazon today, I'd have my knife in hand before this drop even ends, I have to say that this drop probably shouldn't succeed.

+1 for this knife, it's perfect for a do-it-all expendable knife for the bug out bag. I forced a patina with vinegar, and give it a light coating of mineral oil after sharpening. It has spent a year in my draw with no rust, in Auckland, a fairly humid city. The sheath does the job, good steel, comfortable handle, great price.

Disappointed with how long it is taking to ship, I won't cancel my order though
This item is misslabed. Atm. The mora companion is 0.10 inches thick at the spine. The mora companion HD is 0.13 inches thick at the spine. The HD stands for heavy duty, i checked these messurments at bass pro shop.

Can anyone suggest an affordable alternative to this Right-hand sheath? Just got the 511 from that drop, and that sheath too is Right-hand only. Ambi would be best, but Lefty works too.

love my mora. i have several much more expensive knives. The mora doesn't excel in any one category but for the price it is completely unbeatable. I've beat the hell out of it out in the woods and it resharpens quickly and asks for more.
step 1 buy mora step 2 get fine grit sandpaper and sand spine down to 90* for firesteel use (won't work out of box for fire steel) step 3 force a patina (I use apple cider vinegar) step 4 enjoy!

They should also drop the stainless version or make it as an option.

Sorry if this is kind of a noob question, but since this is a carbon steel knife that mean it rusts, right? So how would you keep it from rusting? I just sounds weird that you would have to oil or maintain a survival knife.

Schmexyjust keep it dry and if it does rust a bit just use some steel wool to remove it. you can also patina the blade with a bit of vinegar.

SchmexyI use marine TUF-Cloth on my knives. Just give them a wipe down before storing. never had a rust problem.

If anyone is wondering, the difference between the Morakniv Companion HD and the regular Morakniv Companion MG is in the blade thickness: 1/8″ (3.2mm) vs. 5/64″ (2.0mm)

I got one recently from KnifeCenter for $18 (supporting a non-Amazon retailer). Love the knife. Only used it a few times, but I batoned a branch easily. Very lightweight considering how sturdy it is.
