Just received the Garberg/Basic 511 package shipped December 5th. Garberg really feels good in the hand. Same with the Basic 511. Looking forward to trying both out over the Christmas Holidays. Best price available than any source in Canada.

On Amazon now for $10.00 cheaper, although most of that would be eroded by taxes. Still, no waiting. https://www.amazon.com/Morakniv-Garberg-Sandvik-Stainless-4-3-inch/dp/B01HZF9FGC?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_PC_3e51fdc5_NA&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

December 1st. That's when mine was shipped. It just arrived today. 14 days to get from point A to point B is ridiculous. Massdrop needs to work on their shipping options as FedEx isn't cutting it anymore. Half the time FedEx hands the delivery off to USPS once it reaches your town anyways.
The description says both stainless steel and carbon steel - two very different blades. Which is it?

That's the point. I'm not likely to buy something if I can't tell what it is from the description....

I was in on this drop and just received my knife. When you purchased you had your choice of either a stainless steel Garberg OR a carbon steel Garberg at a premium price. Both knives came with a free Mora Basic which had a carbon steel blade.
Ditto for carbon steel version
Is the carbon steel version gonna be offered soon?
Is this knife sturdy enough and large enough for batoning wood?
sonipitts
Morakniv states that the Garberg can be used for batoning.
According to Mora’s website, the Garberg’s blade is 3.2mm thick, not 3.8 as given in the MD description. One of Mora’s best. Decent price, too.
Just received notice my order has been shipped. Woot-woot!
Who to talk to about shippingoptions? Live abroad and want some info😌
bummer... molle version is sold out. bleh.
Great price. But I just have too many knives in this size already.
JUST bought the Garberg at a very slight discount in contrast to this one. It would be hard to find a knife in the $100 price range that could outperform the Garberg in most all bushcraft/camp applications. Considering joining this drop on principal.
This looks like a great buy! The last time I got in on this drop it was just for the Garberg knife by itself, which I purchased from MD for $63.74 https://www.massdrop.com/buy/48582 This drop basically includes a bonus Mora for that same (base) price. FYI, I'm in the USA.
Definitely in on this deal! I literally looked at it while boarding a flight and was like “wow that’s a fantastic deal!” And hit the Join button without another thought. I have been using various versions of the Morakniv carbon knives (bushcraft, companion, etc). This will be my first stainless and I’ve been eyeing the Garberg for some time now. At $67 with tax and shipping it is like getting a killer deal on the Garberg and then ALSO getting another free knife! best deal I’ve seen yet in anything on Massdrop besides the Durstan Xmid 1P tent that I also joined. Thanks Massdrop!
Oh man! I just lost mine at a camp site on the weekend. Must have fallen out of my pack. Bought it in the original drop and loved it as my beater knife (stainless and plastic... Nearly indestructible). Gonna have to order again!
I own and love this knife. Great quality, excellent ergos. Quick note on the steel: it holds an edge very well and is very easy to strop back into shape. I personally favor this over "super steels" that require a lot of maintenance to re-sharpen. The form factor is right in the sweet spot of doing a lot of things very well. Sure, it's not ideal for specialized tasks more suited to, say, fillet knives, skinning knives, axes. But it's more than enough knife for most tasks while not being an unwieldy sharpened prybar.

I couldn't agree more. I have to touch up and strop my s35v, vg10, and s90v knives all the time. I like them and they also get super sharp, but the maintenance is a pita. This knife just takes a few swipes on the strop after a weekend of abuse and it's back to being silly-sharp. It's the best knife I've ever owned.
Just joined the drop and this is going to be my first fixed blade. I'm just starting out and this seems to be a good knife based on several comments.

You made a good choice. I put all my expensive knives in a drawer and this is the only one I use. It's excellent.
massdrop people really are clueless... the steel is not even listed in the official description. That's like selling a car, listing the engine as 'gas powered' and failing to identify cylinders, displacement, torque, and HP. Massdrop fail, learn some marketing skills please
How much is shipping? The price means nothing if I get charged 10-12 dollars for shipping

Should show when you join the drop (you don't have to pay).
A great "all around" knife. I've field dressed deer, split wood, made tinder and started fires with mine.
If I could only have one fixed blade knife, this would be the one.
These are the Sheaths that I got for mine.

Where did you purchase the sheaths from and are they made for the Garberg?
Great price. Too bad, I already have bought mine on the last drop. Have a preorder in for the Carbon Steel Version. You all should snap this up. by the wa, really nice leather sheath for this knife from Zony59 on eBay.
This is the lowest price that I have seen on the Mora Garberg knife so far, as it originally started out at $100 a year or so ago when it first hit the market.
Amazon currently has the same knife listed for $84.94, but based upon the price of the other models of the Mora knives that are available on the market, $65 or so is probably a fair price.
I own several Mora knives, the Mora HD Companion, the Mora 510, the Mora Light My Fire, and the Mora Bushcraft Black, which I purchased from $35 for the Bushcraft Black, down to free for the 510, so I usually know a good deal when I see one.
Many people balked at the $100 price for the Garberg, as like me, they were used to paying lower prices for the Mora knives, but the Garberg is a full tang knife, so again $65 is probably close to the fair market value for this knife.
I have to say that I still prefer the "Mora Garberg Killer" a/k/a the Terava Jaakaripuukko from Varusteleka of Finland, which is a great full tang knife that you can pick up with a great leather sheath for essentially the same price delivered, as the Garberg being offered here.
The Terava Jaakaripuukko is available in two lengths and in stainless and carbon steel, and it seems like a tougher and more dependable knife to me.
Sometimes they run out of stock, but not usually for too long.

This is a killer deal on a knife folks rave about, but I'm confused about the sheath. Knife is currently $84.94 & FREE shipping at Amazon with the leather sheath, and $89.97 with the MOLLE multi system sheath. Massdrop says this knife comes with a "plastic multi mount sheath" which I hope doesn't mean one of the cheaper, hard plastic, clip-two-together sheaths the less expensive Moras come with. The photos show the MOLLE multi mount sheath in the photo which would make this a great deal. If this drops to $59.99 it would be an amazing deal at almost $30 less than Amazon. If you prefer the more traditional look of the leather sheath an extra $3.50 ain't much.
For those wondering what kind of stainless steel, this appears to be the 14C28N Sandvik clip point, scandi grind, stainless steel blade with a Rockwell hardness of 56-58 HRC . Many consider this the best knife Mora makes for bushcraft and general use. I've heard the same knife will be offered in a carbon steel blade soon, so you might want to wait if you like carbon steel better than stainless. The MOLLE multi mount system (again, assuming that's what this comes with) can be mounted vertically or horizontally, and I believe you can put the knife in either way for right or left hand draw.
I don't even need one, but might jump on this deal just to have my first Mora and see what all the buzz is about. Folks who have Mora knives generally love them and even their cheapest knives are considered tough workhorses.

Just checked Amazon they selling it with leather sheath for 72.00 with 2 day shipping
Mine arrived yesterday. It was worth the weight. I really like these knives. Razor sharp, with more heft than the rest of the mora line. I also found this sheath made to fit these knives. Now i’m Really a happy camper.😀

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for flagging the shipping restriction on this drop. There was an error on in our system that restricted shipping more than necessary for this particular drop. Our commerce team went in updated all of the information to reflect the proper restrictions, which opens the drop up to all suitable countries, and they will be extending the drop an additional day to be sure those of you who wanted to purchase will be able to do so.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and sorry we didn't catch this sooner.
