how much ram it has?
len518
16GB of DDR4 RAM on this model from what I see.
Why is this taking so long? They said they expected to ship by Dec 20th.
how is work this rebate? How much time I have for send the request? I tried to fill up the request, but they ask me for serial number and other stuff, which I haven't yet.
Wolter
you can not apply for the rebate until after you have received the product. they need to be sure you actually purchased it and not just trying to get free money.
Be careful ordering this laptop! Mine has been back to MSI 3 times back-to-back for a motherboard replacement and every time I get it back the laptop is DOA and it has a used and mared motherboard in it! Looking at getting a lawyer if they don't fix it right the 4th time! MSI is on my shit list now and I used to be a HUGE fan, but not anymore. Be careful buying an MSI product!
The mail in rebate isn't working!

Its not good anymore.
Thanks for flagging. It has been removed.
Howdy Everyone, Just want to make sure everyone does not miss that this drop has a $200 MSI Mail In Rebate. The Mail In Rebate will be posted at the bottom of the drop description page. With the Mail In Rebate it takes the final price of this laptop down to $1049.99. There are limited units available. Cheers.
B.Hutch@AKRacing
Now that the drop is going on, is the rebate still valid?
Jay_F
No sorry. That was from the last drop 13 weeks ago.
I have the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-034 version of this laptop and I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it. That being said, this 422 version only includes a terribly slow hard drive which you would want to replace with an SSD as soon as possible so figure that into your purchase price and other expectations.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bad deal, 1060 equipped laptops with much better ssd/hdd/cpu combinations and same ram config regularly go on sale for this price or less. Hard pass.
Dontworrys
The main advantage of this model is that it's much slimmer and lighter than most other 1060 laptops. If that is something that doesn't matter to you then then you're right that you can get similar specs for less.
To the seller: if I buy this, when can we get it if we live in US? (In LA). I'm leaving US at the end of Dec. It says ship in Nov, but we all know that MD isn't known for its fast shipping...
The description of the contents of this computer is inaccurate.
Available from Newegg for the same price right now but for a GS63VR Stealth Pro-469 which comes with a 128gb m2 ssd in addition to the 1tb hdd, includes the same bundle items. It is also eligible for a $150 MIR which brings the total after rebate to $1050: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?&Item=N82E16834154674 *Edit: Shellshocker is over but you can use code EMCBRCH74 to get the same price.

As far as I know the only difference is the 469 doesn't have an ssd in the m.2 slot. The display specs are listed the same so the displays will be similar. Panel differences in the same model are usually due to supply constraints such as cost and availability to the manufacturer, and therefore largely luck of the draw.
FYI: Still available at $1050 after rebate if you use code EMCBRCH74.
https://www.amazon.com/NP7850-Gaming-i7-7700HQ-GeForce-Windows/dp/B074542262/ has a better CPU, a M.2 SSD in addition, the same GPU and GRAM for $30 more. Is all that worth 1.5 lbs?
I own the 422 from Fry's, AMA.

I m thinking between this and Acer predator Helios 300. Any suggestion?
OzzyNite
If size, weight, physical appeal (looking less like a gaming computer), and build quality matter to you, then go with the Stealth. I haven't used the Helios, but reading reviews in the past, IIRC, there were some cooling issues with that laptop. So in that respect, it doesn't give it an advantage over the stealth, which also heats up under load.
Speaking on behalf of my experience with the stealth, I haven't had a majority of the issues that people have experienced over time. I've had the laptop for about 6 months now. It still runs like a charm, I had it on the 5400 RPM HDD for a couple months and it wasn't terribly slow after the clean install. However, I've upgraded to a 2.5 SATA SSD and it runs quicker. The speakers on the MSI suck too, just FYI. I use a headset which eliminates the loud fans when gaming.
It looks like the Helios will be a better screen and price. Keep in mind that I got the 422 for ~1k USD inclusive from Fry's, making the MSI a better purchase than the Helios.
Everywhere I look for this laptop it comes with an ssd so is this one with or without one ?
San1234der
It's the one without.
Howdy Everyone, Great News! Everyone participating in this drop will get the additional bundle items. It is no longer limited to the first 10 customers. Cheers.
I've owned the GS63VR spec'd with 1TB 5400 RPM HDD, and 128GB SSD for about a year now. It's a good machine with quite a few caveats... First, the LCD panels MSI uses can vary from vendor. The LG provided in mine was horrid in color accuracy. I've replaced it last month with an AUO panel and absolutely love the difference now. Also, the 1TB 5400 RPM HGST drive installed in mine was painfully slow! Others have complained about the hard drive performance. Fortunately, I had replaced it with a 1TB 850 Evo SSD for storage. Also, the m.2 slot, this model doesn't specify about a SSD being installed. For versions like mine that had the m.2 SSD installed already, it's not that big of a deal, but to access the M.2/Nvme slot, you'll need to disconnect and remove the motherboard to get to it. Unfortunately it's opposite of what's visible once you remove the bottom cover for the laptop case. IMO, if this version doesn't have an m.2 drive already installed, I would honestly pass and spend the extra hundred dollars. Also, ditch the stupid ultra-slim HDD asap if you want to actually use this machine.

How did you determine which replacement panel would fit?
DKizzy
Fortunately the panel used on all 1080p GS63VRs use a standard 30-pin eDP connector while the "4k" models use a 40pin connector. The hardware ID in the control panel shows my old panel was the LG LP156WF6; a quick spec search verifies that's the crap screen nobody likes. Anyways, others on various laptop forums recommend replacing other laptops that use that LG panel with the AUO B156HAN01.2 or Samsung variant for better overall image quality and contrast. I've chosen the AUO model and I'm quite happy with the results. It's night and day difference from stock. To be honest, I rarely use my MSI laptop before the screen change since I typically play games on my 4770k 4.5Ghz/GTX1080 machine and Photoshop work would be done on my old macbook or my Surface Pro 3. Now I use it along side my main gaming rig instead of keeping it in the bag.
There is an error in the description it say it has 16gb of GDDR5X like it is saying it has 1080 SLI

  • 16G GDDR5X (8GB each)
I wonder how this laptop is any better than Acer Predetor Helios 300.
It's $200 more expensive with last gen CPU and a tectonic-plate HDD.

As an owner, I assure you this particular model does get quite hot under load still. But that is, more or less, the result of having a much slimmer design.

Same question
DO NOT BUY this version. The HDD is the slowest possible thing they could have put in it. Worst experience I've had with a computer in my life. You might be thinking "I'll upgrade the hdd". Nightmare experience to upgrade. It does have a M.2 slot, but the motherboard is reversed. So you have to take the whole MB out to get access to it. Just awful. You can see it opened up here: http://www.ultrabookreview.com/12757-upgrade-ram-ssd-msi-gs73/
And look at the amazon reviews: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XJKYHPG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's really unthinkable that they put this harddrive in there. I can't believe MSI would release this laptop with this HDD.
totallytroy
I think all of their gs63vr laptops spec with a 1TB hdd use that same slow hgst thin low power drive. I wouldn't recommend this machine solely because it's missing a SSD connected via the m.2 slot. What a total pain in the ass to get to!
Is this a Cote&Ciel bag or knock off?
Evert
They do direct business with MSI on drops. So I would assume all products listed are real.
Do you ship internationally? or only to the US?
Korleo
Internationally, just add to your cart and put your adress to see if this drop ship internationally!
I'm wondering why the write up advertises this is having an SSD, but in the specs no SSD is listed. Does it have an SSD? Thanks!
NurfHurdur
It does not have an ssd. 5400 rpm hard drive I believe.
This deal is really good actually, my friend bought just the laptop and it cost more than this bundle.
Prohero113
yeah its true, this deal is realy good than i buy this bundle from the store.
will i have to pay import taxes to get this to belgium?
Do we know the screen model and quality of this unit? Some GS63VR have very poor IPS panels like the -001 and -252 models, but I can't find any info on the -422.
rottencheese
Can't comment on comparison to the -001 and -252 models, but my -422 experience is that it has poor color accuracy. Still better than the TN panels some of them come with (particularly the one I saw at Best Buy). However, I hook this up to a monitor for gaming, and use it for working with large amounts of data outside of the home, so not a huge issue for me.
Hey that's pretty good
Seems pretty good, hdmi 2.0 , just would have liked a faster HDD. Guess il need to upgrade it.
Mick2Quick
And it should have an M.2 slot available.
Mick2Quick
I put an m2 drive in mine
how much more i will pay to get this laptop in DK ? i have to pay taxes to DK aswell ?
Good laptop. Portability with great performance. I own the GS63VR variant from Best Buy (paid higher) and am very satisfied. Audio is a bit weak but I use headsets 99% of the time, so no biggy for me. Highly recommended at this pricing. You can't find such a thin and light laptop with GTX 1060 at this pricing.
