If you're thinking to buy the pen for a christmass present, beware! Namisu is known to have some serious and worrisome delays, so level your expectations accordingly. Also, if you are glad that they are answering your questions below, also beware, before purchase they have great communication, but once they get your money you get the cold shoulder. Radio silence is their company policy, but their pens are really nice once (or if) they are made.

As mentioned, Namisu was able to get this shipment to us ahead of schedule, but there were some delays getting through customs on our end. This just cleared though, so should be shipping out to you next week right after the holiday, at the latest. Thanks for your patience!

Lizthank-you Liz..
I got tired of waiting for this drop to return so I bought the pen direct from Namisu a while back where it was on sale for about $5 less than the lowest price here. That being said, the sale at Namisu is no more and Titanium body and nib for the Orion were not available through Namisu and still aren't. They are available for the newer Nova, though. The Bock Titanium nib is supposed to be flexy, though I have not tried it. However, it's the same nib TactileTurn use in their Gist. I have the black Aluminum Orion with stainless steel nib and I have to say its a great little pen. So much so that I completely abandoned the idea of getting the pricier KaraS Kustoms Ink. This drop is the best Orion deal you are going to find now that its not on sale anymore.
The excuses are endless, the money is not. Sigh. That's why I am staying from the Tactile Turn website myself. Damascus steel patterns have a hypnotic, psychedelic effect on me; I never know what I might do if I look at them for too long.

TherocYeah, I saw the Damascus steel ones. I am having a serious internal struggle ... I have a feeling I may have to block the site from my browser! ;)

This is not even a good deal. You can get this pen for a cheaper price from Namisu's website.
CharlieFavreauI guess it depends where you live. I'm in San Francisco, and if I order from Namisu (based in the UK), I pay 45GBP ($61), plus 8.50GBP ($11.50) shipping, for at total of 53.50GBP ($72.50). For this drop, I'm paying $45, plus $3.50 shipping, plus $4.10 sales tax, for a total of $52.60 — saving $20.

Is the entire nib unit unscrewable? Since it's a #6 nib, if I want different sizes, can I just get an Edison #6 nib unit off Goutlet and change it?
Or do I need to get the Goutlet nib instead (i.e. just the nib), pull the nib/feed out and replace it?

SlimceaI don't have an Edison nib assembly, so I can't say for sure, but bear in mind: Edison use JoWo nib assemblies, Namisu use Bock (and yes, they are 'screw-in' assemblies, so easily swappable). The size of the nibs is pretty much identical, but the screw-in assemblies *may not* be designed or threaded the same.

JamerelbeThe Jowo nib assemblies use a completely different thread so they are not directly interchangeable. You can however use the Jowo nib itself by mounting it on the Bock feed and sleeve. We've mounted a Jowo 1.1mm stub which worked fine after adjusting the tines a little bit.

I was one of the backers for their Kickstarter campaign. I got all the options >.< ...they made a VERY high quality pen. The nib writes smooth on both the Steel and Titanium. I like that the nib was easy to remove for cleaning or incase you were experimenting. The pen was a joy to use. I had no issues with the dept of the ridges. If this is an improvement then you are in for a TREAT :)

Getting back from vacation and finding this beauty on Massdrop is one of those thing that helps easing the back-to-college pain! I'm already waaaaaay over my budget this year, but I really can't pass up a chance to get such a wonderful piece of that modern and minimalist design I like so much. The new grooves are icing on the cake of the already wonderful design of your previous fountain pen. Guess I'll have to join the drop as soon as possible, with only one day left. Well, let's find the money. I kinda started the poll for this pen (yep, I don't vote in my own polls, but Namisu would have been my choice, no doubt on that), so I feel kinda proud that you chose Massdrop to launch it. So congratulations for this wonderful (ok I should stop using this word, but I can't think of another one that could fit) new fountain pen! Very small post scriptum: I suppose, as per the description, that all pens will be sent to Massdrop in the US and then re-shipped to us. The same will apply for buyers inside the EU, won't it? It's kinda annoying having to pay VAT on a product from an EU-based company (I live in Italy), but the price would still be well worth the quality of the pen. Small edit: should you guys at Namisu manage to get some of those wonderful Bock titanium nibs anytime between now and the shipment of the pens, count me in already for one! I've been eager to try one of those since I found out about their existence!

Is there any update on sending the pens to Europe perhaps directly from Europe. I just paid the taxes for my Massdrop Vanishing Point, which is ok because it was still much cheaper than if I buy it in a shop here. But the annoying thing was, it was three weeks at the customs, probably because of the summer holidays and growing numbers of international orders. It would be really bad if I can order it soon at Namisu directly, get it cheaper there and don't have to wait that long in the end.

I have the Titanium Nexus w/Ti nib and it's pretty great. I'd love to see some comparison shots of the Orion with the Nexus to gauge the size difference.
