This Camera is $500 off from nikon directly (http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/dslr-cameras/1542/d810.html)... pay the extra $400, and get a full and properly licensed warranty.... Massdrop stop wasting our time please... there are those of us who are waiting for legitimate worthwhile drops of this and other related products...
pay the extra and get a non gray market camera. You will be totally screwed with this.

still gray market
robbyrocks
Just saying, $150 cheaper and you get it sooner than later... This here is no deal.
I would also like to know, is this D810 also grey market? As the last drop was.

You imply the item is gray market but you don't say it directly. Your words want the sale but they do not answer the question. Answer the question directly.
@Kcolasacco
You are correct, Massdrop will honor Nikons 1 year warranty if you should run into any issues with warrantee service not caused by accidental damage.
Thanks for participating in the discussion.
Cheers!
Is this one US?

Quick update for the group. We are in contact with the vendor and awaiting updated shipment estimates from them. We have a call scheduled first thing tomorrow morning and should get a bit more visibility in regards to when we can expect these to ship out. We will update the group as soon as these are on the way.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 8/5 or sooner if something comes up.
Thanks again for joining the drop with the community. We submitted the group’s order with the vendor for the Nikon D810 FX-format Digital SLR Camera Body shortly after the drop ended and they have begun preparing it for shipment.
Once the group’s order is ready at the vendor’s location, they will ship the packages individually to you as soon as possible.
Once we receive confirmation regarding the shipping schedule from the vendor, we will provide you guys with updated information on the status of your package.
Expect an update from us on 8/3 or sooner.
Its the truth though, look it up. Its not up to me to research for you. I know for a fact its happened.
It was with the d750
Grey market for sure, thanks for the honest information. Nikon USA will NOT service this body, meaning, they won't even touch it - not clean it, nothing. Nikon USA is VERY strict on Grey market items, I've been burned on expensive lenses twice from well known retailers in the USA. Don't buy grey market Nikon anything, you will not be supported in any way, including parts. Sad but true.
Nikon may do service on grey market if its related to a recall but thats it... They did it with the d7200s or something.
Cameras and lenses are exempt from Canadian import duties. Regular taxes (HST, GST, etc. still apply): - www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e604-eng.pdf
The down side of these megapixel cameras are that you need a very good lens to capture its intended resolution. Otherwise you better off with something else. The problem when you paired with a good lens is then the whole unit become very heavy and hard to carry it around for extended period and may end up using a monopod as I did. Not very good for travelling.

I think you need a steady hand more than those monster lens. I have a D810 and now I am happy with my 35/1.8G and 85/1.8G. Sharpness is not everything.
Since this is an import.... and you don't do repairs, I'm guessing this has zero warranty. Might as well buy a refurbished one with a 90 day warranty for $2,599.96

If anything goes wrong within the first year that's not a result of accidental damage, we will assist with either repair or replacement depending on the severity of the damage. @mweintraub @Gary_S
Nikon is having issues with several recent DSLR's and has had recalls - I would not buy an expensive DSLR gray market because it does not have a valid Nikon warranty. Nikon won't even service it. And Nikon no longer provides parts to private repairers. Massdrop should include warranty information in its description.
Gary_S
this isn't true, they had some issue with the d7100 or something and they decided to accept grey market cameras for recalls. Might not happen everytime but it has happened so... don't spew lies
sturok
It's beyond any sane person's comprehension how you can connect my pointing out official Nikon policy from their own office and what you claim happened about the "d7100 or something " and accuse me of "spewing lies." You should really think through things clearly and have all your facts before accusing someone of being a liar.
This is a crazy good deal. I use this camera and it's ridiculously impressive. I didn't think it would be that much improvement over the D700, but it was. If any of you are contemplating, just go for it.
Will we start to see Sony bodies now?
Does this offer carry the NIkon international warranty or is it a "GREY MARKET" drop
DesP
See B.Hutch's posts on the first page of comments. Bottom line: Grey Market.
The Nikon site says this shoots at 5 fps. The video even states that you have to put the camera into DX mode and attach the multi battery pack to get it to shoot at 7 fps. Can you please clarify this in the description so someone doesn't confuse this?
General Mass Drop question but here is a good of a place as any to ask. I am in Canada and I see "shipping to Canada" under the price. Is the price I am seeing in CDN dollars?
Edit: I should read. I see above that it is USD. I can get this exact same camera here for 3499.00 CDN. No exchange, no shipping, no import/duty tax, and from an authorized dealer to boot. Not really a deal then as it would end up costing me as much or more to buy from Mass Drop.

I feel like customs doesnt have a code and it goes by if the person checking your items is having a good day or not. I have made multiple $500+ purchases from the states shipping to Toronto and have not been charged for customs/import fees. Yet recently i bought a $40 replacement cable and they slapped me with $20 fee. I dont even understand how that happens. -_-

Its by mood. If the officer got laid the day he checks your shit, well, your in luck.
Thanks for the information B.Hutch, but that is a deal breaker for me.
Would love if you participate in two of my polls.

This D810 drop is an import from Europe. This means it wasn't brought to the US through one of the manufacturer's authorized distributors. The camera is still the exact same make and model, but the advantage is that they are typically less expensive for customers to purchase because there's no middleman fee.
This typically coincides with the disadvantage of gray market items - warranty support, which normal imports would lack. But we stand behind the products sold on Massdrop, and will provide the same one-year warranty on any camera you see listed in a drop.
Hopefully that helps clear up some of the confusion about the drop! If members strongly prefer US products that's a viable option as well, but keep in mind pricing may be less advantageous if that is the case.

Nikon's insane policy of punishing cross border purchases is really dumb. I lived outside the US for a bit, bought a lens while living there, and when it had an electrical glitch, Nikon refused to fix it, and refused parts to a third party repair shop (that they themselves use when they have service demand overflows). Had to ship it back to Singapore to the shop where I bought it for Nikon Singapore to repair it. So even though you may stand behind it, even have a repair shop lined up, it's not clear that Nikon will supply parts for the repair. Dumb. What part of "global economy" do they not understand? All of it.
Hello Everyone, If the drop becomes successful, we will be placing the order for the cameras from a vendor that acquired their inventory from Nikon. So even though by definition this is considered as grey market product because we are not an authorized Nikon retailer, authenticity of the camera is verified and validated.
As anything else that's sold through Massdrop, we stand behind our products completely. If anything happened within the year that's not a result of accidental damage, we will assist with either repair or replacement depending on the severity of the damage.
Truth to be told, we are slightly surprised by Nikon USA's stance on grey market, or at least publicly on their company site. This is not at all reflective of our experience dealing with Nikon for repair service work. Nikon's camera service facility has always been great and accommodating with camera tune ups or repairs on cameras that were not originally purchased through Nikon USA.
Is this U.S. funds ? Or canadian ?
C1rcax
USD unfortunately.
Grey Market price for the D810 is around $2399 so that and the fact that they don't answer our warranty questions leads me to believe that this is indeed a GM (import) product. I personally don't like the fact that they do not mention this in the description. It's been happening a lot in the last few Nikon drops.
Gonna need the warranty information on this kind of thing.
Instagram, here I come!
Seriously tempting if it's not grey market, but I have a strong feeling that isn't going to be the case... Adding my voice in search of an official response though.
