120db of goodness. When they said 120db I wasn't quite convinced that it would be loud. It's not like you hear sound and know what decibel it was at. This thing is loud. And the light strong. This is going to be a great addition on my hiking and trekking trips.
Pros:
1) The loud pitch will easily attract attention. Probably a mile away.
2) The flashing light is great in the evenings.
3) Its tiny enough to be attached to any backpack exterior or just throw it in your pocket.
Cons:
1) I wish there were 1 or 2 modes of lights. S.O.S. lighting would've been great instead of just interval flashing.
2) The carabiner that comes along with it feels quite flimsy. I hope it's not. I don't want to lose this on one of the hikes.
3) I have yet to see if this floats or not, If it drops. But it seems heavy enough to sink.
4) This ideally should've been a rechargeable kinds. USB-C if possible. Since battery banks are always with us on hikes and treks. (though 72 hours are enough, the box says that a CR123 battery is good for around 6 months after inserting it.) I might have to carry an additional CR123 battery on a hike.
I wish there was a copper or brass option instead of the plastic. It would look quite cool.
I'm a bit of an over-prepared hiker, but this is a no-brainer to pack with you on long hikes. The siren is LOUD and the flash is BRIGHT. Combined with the long shelf life battery, and it's a great accessory that you hope you never have to use. The use is dead simple too, so you won't have to fiddle with it in case of an emergency.
