Listing says it's "got everything you need," except, you know, for KEYCAPS! Now that I really inspect it, I see that it just says "96 keys" and no mention of including the keycaps. But really that wasn't obvious given the pictures showing keycaps, the rest of the listing, and options for assembly. I feel the listing should really have specifically said that keycaps are not included.
maxmiSame here. I'm really interested in the keycaps shown in the listing photos, in particular. But really I need any keycaps that will work to use the keyboard.
Can anyone who owns one of these tell me what to expect in terms of surface treatment/quality on this keyboard?
There's something about the photos of this keyboard on Drop - particularly the mid-gray ones - that seem to show a little bit of imperfection of line. Not like "cobbiness" (as in roughness of actual manufacture); more like a bit of "blobbiness", like a lacquer or other surface coating that's got enough thickness to cause some surface distortion around the edges of a cleanly manufactured underlying hunk of metal. It's the sort of thing that I'm well aware could also simply be an artifact of light-placement & reflection, so it's a little difficult to get a sure sense of what I'm looking at.
I've opted out of ordering this deck in the past because of this impression, waiting for something that strikes me as being more clean (like a Heavy Shell Barix for instance). I went ahead and pulled the trigger this time around because when I google image-search the NYM96 it *is* possible to find photos in which the keyboard looks clean & sharp as a tack. I also got hungry enough for a nice clean 96 that I decided I couldn't wait any longer! (turns out there are plenty of photos posted in the discussion below of nice, sharp cases - I forgot those were there/forgot how long I've been eyeing this deck)
Is there a different coating on different drops of this keyboard, or is it just a lighting fluke in the photos I'm looking at? Looking forward to this deck showing up, and very curious how it will look!
Also: is there a keyboard out there that's essentially a Barix in terms of design/build, but with a 96 layout like a NYM96 or Melody96?
omg please say something about keyboards and shipments, even if it's utter twaddle.
You must be sensitive to the fact that I am a nerd and I am losing my mind. Updates!
Looks like my prior comment didn't post. So I just bought a NYM96 for $150 off a kid and the stabilizers in it are completely rattlely. Anyone else had this problem? I ordered some new Durocks V2 hoping I'm able to put them on. This is my first time ever trying to mod a keyboard. I also ordered some Alpacas cause I like the way they sound. Any suggestions?
