Product Description
A great solution for those who prefer to carry only one lens when exploring, the Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14–150mm f4–5.6 lens has a weatherproof construction and a 10.7x zoom. The lens’s 35mm equivalent focal length range of 28 to 300mm covers everything from wide angle to telephoto, and its slim profile and 9-ounce weight mean you can bring it just about everywhere Read More
Crap. This is a micro four-thirds lens, ja?
I almost skipped over it.
Though I'm more so looking for a micro four-thirds macro lens.
I'd like to support it, but not $370-like.
The warranty information is vague. Is there a warranty on this lens? Who provides it? Olympus frequentLu has these as reconditioned so I assume the failure rate is fairly high. Thx.
KfinnepgThis is an international item according to the description, so any warranty would be through Massdrop. This is considered "gray market." Generally speaking, I've been fine with gray markets, but it comes down to luck whether you get a good/bad copy, or whether you damage your item. Most camera companies do not service gray market items. Most people are fine with gray market camera gear, but you'll have to weigh the risks and see if it's worth it for you.
My experience with Olympus reconditioned cameras and lenses are that they are like new condition, without the box and manuals. They come with a free 30 day return period, as well as a manufacturer warranty, and every time a holiday rolls around, they have some sort of coupon code reducing the price further (Extra 15%-20% off). These sales are the best ways to get gear cause there is no risk.
yes, ish. The contacts can be finicky. i can get it to recognize now, but occasionally it takes more effort than it should to line everything up. The ergonomics of the lens and body together are a little awkward - it’s front heavy. i got an old omd-10 body from a buddy and have found it much easier to use.
surr3a1Actually this lens is normally $599 on the Olympus site so $399 is a pretty good price. $100 seems like an opening bid to me so I'd check the Ebay ad more carefully. They are presently on sale at $499 through Olympus and legit dealers so you're still ahead with this offering. Now the kit lens 40-150mm is sold rather cheaply but that's "40- 150mm" not "14-150mm" this is an easy mistake to make.
This is truly a wonderful lens. While I own the same range across two Pro lenses I can't help but reach for this for casual personal shooting. One lens, everyday carry. Leave the bag at home!
Great travel lens if you have a m4/3 body with in-body IS. I use one on my E-M1 on trips/hikes when I'm not worried low light imagery. Much more convenient than swapping between the 12-40 and 40-150 in the field.
DocZZZThere are some threads on that topic at DPReview. Here's one: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4090573.
When reading any comparisons, make sure that they're talking about the Oly 14-150 Mark II, which I've heard has better IQ than the Mark I.
I have the Olympus 14-150 Mark II and I've been happy with it, but the choice is likely to come down to which camera body one plans to use. The Pansonic lens has image stabilization, but lacks weather-sealing. The Oly is weather-sealed, but lacks stabilization. I opted for the Oly lens because I was using a camera (E-M5 Mark I) that had image stabilization and weather-sealing (and got a good price on it). If someone has a Panasonic body with no IS and no weather sealing, then the Panasonic lens would probably be a better choice. If your camera body has built-in IS but no weather-sealing (e.g. Oly E-PL7), then, yes, it's more about image quality (which seems to be about equal from what I've read), and perhaps focus speed/accuracy, shutter shock, etc.
