Be aware that the finish on this belt is not consistent. It is apparently "supposed to look cracked" and will change each time you wear it. If you are fine with a 'striped/cracked' looking leather finish to a belt then proceed with your order. But if you are expecting a belt with a finished look this is not it and Massdrop will not refund your money. Lesson learned the hard way.

treeincNot just that, but that kind of effect is the whole point of getting a pull-up leather like latigo.

Just received in Singapore today (13.2.2018), perfect timing just before the Lunar New Year. This is the thickest leather belt i've owned. It feels waxy and has a pull up effect on the holes that i'm using. I'm size 32 and got the 34, the length is perfect as i prefer my belt to fit just right. Because the leather is so thick some how it feels short, however after comparing with other belts i'm using, lengths are very similar. The buckle feels solid and nicely screwed on tight. This has to be the best leather quality i've ever seen in a belt. Overall very happy with my purchase, can't wait to see how it turns out seasoned. Once again thank you very much Massdrop :)

Well judging by the sizing comments below I'm skipping this drop. According to Orion's sizing instructions I'm size 36, I wear size 34 pants (so that matches Massdrop description), but according to the comments I should get a size 42 or something. How difficult is it to get the sizing for a belt right?

DoriroD I'll second dtremit's post just below that suggests using the sizing help info from Orion's website. It's pretty accurate. I purchased a size 36 on the last drop.  I'm in the process of losing some weight, so it's a bit longer than I currently want, so I've already bought a size 34 on this drop to replace it.  Hopefully these measurements below can help you decide if you need a size 36 belt or not. Here are the explicit measurements for THIS size 36 belt if it helps you.   You're welcome to buy mine if you want, I've had some interest from local friends already (the belt has never been used, not even once to try on using the buckle). Total length of the belt is 42" from where the buckle sits in the middle of the leather loop created with the screw fasteners to the end of the narrow tip.  From where the buckle sits in that belt loop to where the buckle prong sits in any belt hole adds another 1".  Again, measuring from where the buckle sits in the loop, the distances to the middle of the 5 holes for size 36 belt are: 1st hole:   33 5/8" 2nd hole:  34 5/8" 3rd hole:   35 9/16" 4th hold:   36 9/16" 5th hole:   37 1/2" Again, remember to add the distance from the loop to where the buckle prong sits in the hole (1" for the included buckle). I'm guessing the intended distances were all to 1/2"  (e.g. 33 5/8" is intended to be 33 1/2"), but I assume the processes the belts go through affect both the where the holes are created as well as the movement of the leather (e.g. shrinking/stretching). So if you've got a size 36" belt (or some other size of your favorite belt), comparing these measurements above to your belt should put you in the ballpark for comparing this Orion belt, I imagine. I'll also add that the distance from the 5th hole to the narrow tip of the belt end adds another 4 1/2", and that belt end consists of 3" at the 1 1/2" full belt width, narrowing down over the remaining 1 1/2" to the narrow tip. Also for reference, I wear a size 32 in Levi's jeans (vanity sized to actual 34" waist).  Adding the 1" buckle to the measurements above, by eyeballing where this particular belt would sit on me, for this belt to fit me (not too tight/not too loose), I would likely end up using the 2nd hole in the measurements above using the included buckle, making the total distance 34 5/8" plus 1" for the buckle.....a grand total of 35 5/8" (pretty darn close that size 36 belt I ordered). So this belt is perfectly functional for me, if I wanted to use it on the 2nd hole, with the included buckle.  That also means I have a bit more belt than I'm used to showing BEYOND where the buckle ends to the very tip of the belt (a total of 7 1/2", made up of the 3" for holes 3/4/5, added to the 4 1/2" from hole 5 to the narrow tip end of the belt. The biggest reason I'm getting the new 34" belt are I'll likely be using western style buckles on this belt, and as those buckles are often 1 1/2 to 2" long (instead of the 1" included buckle), they will fasten in the 1st hole.  Again, that still works fine, unless I lose a bit more weight and then the belt will be too long for my needs.   Again, the minor quibble is personal, I don't like having that 7 1/2" extra length and holes showing past the buckle, just longer than I prefer (looking from the front, the excess length runs all the way around my side to hip). Hope this info helps,

Ok - I ordered the belt, and I'm excited to see it! Anybody know if Orion makes belts without buckle tongue/prong holes? The belt looks gorgeous, but I'm most likely going to take off the buckle immediately and put on one of my own, and several of my buckles don't need the hole, and some of them will expose that hole, so they don't really work with this belt.

That's correct. All the Massdrop belts are just as listed, no modifications, I'm afraid. They are still made to order, it's just that we receive the bulk order from Massdrop, and the way shipping and fulfillment is handled really doesn't allow for any more modifications than specified in the drop.

OrionLeatherCoNo problem. I'll use this one to make sure all sizing etc. is solid for when I contact you about the next one. Thanks again!

The mid brown shade and the choice of brass or nickel finishes for the buckle are great. But I would love to see a drop for this style of belt in a slightly smaller width. The 1.5 in (38mm) size coupled with the very rugged finish make this a decidedly casual belt. But in a 32mm or 35mm width it would be much more versatile.

QswissYou're entitled to your opinion, but mine is that the leather makes it too casual already. The width isn't going to change the formality of this belt.

This is sad, I am a size 34-36 depending on the brand of jeans I wear, I ordered a size 40 to be safe, and guess what? IT DOESN'T FIT!
This is abhorrent, I paid $43.74 for this belt, I waited a month and a half, I waited patiently for it to be delivered, and I'm greeted with a belt that doesn't even reach around my entire waist to the buckle. Do better.

TuckerPHave you measured the belt itself to confirm that it’s undersized? If you haven’t, it may be that your jeans just use drastic vanity sizing.

I bought 2 orion belts on a drop in 2015. One was excellent. The other was terrible and had a massive defect through the leather. There's no way they missed this, they let it go out the door this way. Never again.

I picked this belt up on an earlier drop (a year or so ago) and just wanted to comment that it is great. Very well built, beautiful and I get compliments on it. The leather itself is thicker than I was expecting and makes the belt feel very sturdy and high quality.
Hope this helps for anyone on the fence.

I haven't put anything heavy on it personally, but it is pretty thick and stiff so I think you would be okay. One thing to consider with this particular belt is that where it flexes regularly it actually changes visually, so it develops a unique wear pattern.
If you put something heavy on it you may get a cluster of this coloration or at least I think it is likely that it would appear uneven if you wanted to wear it without the item covering it in the future.

OK, so I still wear boys sizes (make fun of me later) so my waist is a 28 or size 14 in boys. Based on the manufacturer's recommendation I should get a size 30?
Also relevant as this would be my first time buying some clothing on Massdrop, what is the exchange policy?

tinyman392FWIW, I'm a size 28/29 as well and measuring my current belt shows its ~30.5 to the hole I use most, so it should fit.

By "hot dipped," I'm going to assume they mean "oil tanned" which isn't uncommon for good quality belts and this one is for that price. Still, I'd prefer that the edges were slightly beveled to resist pinching, rolling and folding. But, otherwise, it looks to be about 9/10 weight leather which means it'll last a very long time. Probably drum dyed too which is the most thorought way to do it front and back and the backside is a sueded finish so it won't sliding around. That type of oil finish is also easy care. You can rub out scuffs or scars easily and condition the leather to restore color depth.
