The world’s first self-winding mechanical watch with an altimeter, the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Altimeter is large (47mm) and full of function. Aesthetically, the watch is aviation style all the way, from its radially knurled bezel to its large Arabic numerals to its seatbelt buckle–style folding clasp Read More
NorfizzleTo answer my own question - no. I received my watch quickly, but unfortunately I'm not able to set the altimeter, the crown just spins. Now I have to waste my own time sending this back to Massdrop b/c there are no repairs offered..
Although this model is not for me, I am glad to see more Oris watches on Massdrop. Massdrop, keep bringing them and I’m sure a few on my short list will show up.
Omegaman68Same here on both counts. The GMT is on my list down the road, though I'm trying to decide between that and the Alipner 4 GMT (the silver dial is dynamite).
This is a great price on this watch. Yes, it's big, it's tall, its not for everyone, but as far as I know, this watch is the only *mechanical* altimeter watch on the market. This watch is a not-insignificant technical and engineering achievement.
1 more mm bigger than my Breitling, so not too hard to get used to but what do I need the altimeter for? I live in NYC, guess I could use it on the elevators? But the elevators does go ding on every floor, that's about 12'-14' per floor…nope I'm gonna pass on this one…
