I got my pair later than I thought I would. Probably delayed by bad weather.
In any case, I'm pleased with the overall sound for the price. Is anyone else finding the KC-06 to be a bit sibilant? I'm noticing more harsh sibilance than I did with my AD900X and modded HD558 (black rubber tape-less). Granted the HD558 is smooth and just about never harsh, the AD900X is definitely sibilant at times, but I don't think I remember those as being quite as harsh as the KC-06.
I know I am comparing apples to oranges though - headphones vs. IEM, and the price bracket is totally different. The only other IEM I could compare to is the Jlab J4, which just sucked (horribly veiled and bloated bass).
As I am typing this, I did lower the volume and the sibilance issue is much better now. I might be a bit spoiled by my headphones, but other than the bit of sibilance, I have to say that the KC-06 is pretty much on even grounds with them. They're very clear despite being sounding very full and warm. I'm more used to a slightly thin, maybe analytical, sound, so these are very refreshing for me. The bass sounds a bit boosted, but not overly so. It probably works out to just about right once I'm out and about, rather than sitting in my quiet home.
About the eartips, the two sets worked as described. However, the bass enhanced ones sounded a bit too veiled to me (I like my treble), but then the crystal clear ones had me finding the bass rather lacking. Turns out the red ones were juuuust right.
edit: One thing I definitely noticed was how sensitive the KC06 were. It picked up the noise floor from my phone (Motorola Moto E) and Kindle Fire HD 8.9. It annoyed me.
Anyways, I spent a week away from home and I thought it would be a good idea to bring the KC06 over my M50x, given how much more portable an IEM would be over a full-sized headphone. I was using it with my laptop and D1 DAC. The sound took a bit of time to get used to. I'm much more used to my speakers and full-size headphones both in terms of comfort and sound. Bass was a bit more than I personally like still, but at least it's not out of control. Mids are where the KC06 really shines, but treble is a bit lacking and occasionally sibilant. They sound better than any cheap IEM I've tried, and they are cheap enough that I won't mind losing them or breaking them. I'm still finding myself wanting to go back to my headphones and speakers, but at least I've got something decent for when I'm on the road.
