I have to say, after purchasing these I was almost regretful because I had not read past reviews about them coming broken, etc. Now, after receiving them, I am the most annoyed I've been in months with a piece of technology, and for the pettiest of reasons. The ear tips are absolutely ridiculous. I have had them for two days and spent well over 5 hours fiddling with them to try and attach the tips on. The issue lies in both the size of the earbud speaker and the size of the tip(s). No matter what you do to them, they just don't listen. I've terried these blasted earphones too long for happiness. Fix the tip sizing!
It's hard to justify buying these after reading the negative reviews (reliability of the product AND support of the manufacturer).................there are just too many other earphones at this price point out there.
The last post on these are a year old and some of them are negative in terms of quality. Can anyone shoot an update on their thoughts to this day. Are these worth the buy? What alternatives are there? Are there any still doing battle with some of the previous buyers?

Thank you for your insight, I jumped into the TFZ King Pro drop that ended yesterday, which I'll use in the office. If the A model ever pops up here I'll consider them for everyday use.

Great choice from what I've heard! Enjoy 👌🏼👍🏼
My KC06's have started malfunctioning, Totally worth the money I spent, until now. The "Y" conneciton where the right and left earphone meet is starting to act funny and drops/lowers the volume to the left earphone. It is very annoying as it tends to act up when I turn my head from left to right. As I sit here typing this they just cut out again....sigh. Ostry requires me to send them a video to prove that they are malfunctioning, I tried to record the problem on my phone but you cant hear it in the recording, these are IEMs.... and the volume sometimes just lowers and not drops out. I would not suggest buying these even if they sound awesome, Ostry's warranty sucks and I think its time I just spent more money for a higher product bracket. Other people in this thread had posted similar issues with their KC06's. Stay away.
The replacement headphones I got are now faulty. They are doing the exact same thing as my original ones. These headphones can't even last one full year whereas my sennheiser cx-300 ii have lasted me 7 years or so... I'm very disappointed. Sent a message to Massdrop, lets see what happens!
Update: OSTRY has not replied to my email. I sent an email to Massdrop a couple of days later and they have offered to send me a new unit (normally they don't do that but they have some spare ones available, lucky me!).
I am very pleased with the customer support from Massdrop, top service. 10/10
Just lost sound on the right earphone. The sound can work if I hold the cable on the earphone-end in a certain direction but that's only a temporary solution, in a few minutes it goes back to static/no-sound. Bought them 22/11/14. Sending an email to ostry now for warranty issues. Will keep you guys posted! :P
I loved these! I just lost them last week on my trip to Nicaragua :( Requested.
Just lost sound to my left earphone entirely today. Very disappointing. I think I'm even starting to Los sound on my right earphone. Was great for a while but now I'm disappointed.
How do I make a warranty claim? My pair's connector is shorting out and is very annoying! I keep good care of them, don't swing them around, grab by the cable, or anything, yet it still broke..
I am already getting trouble with the cable at the top of the 3.5mm jack. I have to adjust the cable so i can hear both ear plugs. When i dont do it i can only hear the right one. I wish you guys can replace mine. I have it maybe for month and didn't use it much ! So i am a bit disappoint that the top where to cable begins of the 3.5mm jack is already broken for some reason. I even didn't use it much it was always on my desk and never use it much or bump it or drop it. So please if some one could help me, because this in ear are really good
Vinesh
Darn, sorry to hear that. If you haven't already, you should be emailing massdrop about this. You can contact massdrop support in your transactions page. I don't think you'll find the help you need in the comments section here.
I got my pair later than I thought I would. Probably delayed by bad weather.
In any case, I'm pleased with the overall sound for the price. Is anyone else finding the KC-06 to be a bit sibilant? I'm noticing more harsh sibilance than I did with my AD900X and modded HD558 (black rubber tape-less). Granted the HD558 is smooth and just about never harsh, the AD900X is definitely sibilant at times, but I don't think I remember those as being quite as harsh as the KC-06.
I know I am comparing apples to oranges though - headphones vs. IEM, and the price bracket is totally different. The only other IEM I could compare to is the Jlab J4, which just sucked (horribly veiled and bloated bass).
As I am typing this, I did lower the volume and the sibilance issue is much better now. I might be a bit spoiled by my headphones, but other than the bit of sibilance, I have to say that the KC-06 is pretty much on even grounds with them. They're very clear despite being sounding very full and warm. I'm more used to a slightly thin, maybe analytical, sound, so these are very refreshing for me. The bass sounds a bit boosted, but not overly so. It probably works out to just about right once I'm out and about, rather than sitting in my quiet home.
About the eartips, the two sets worked as described. However, the bass enhanced ones sounded a bit too veiled to me (I like my treble), but then the crystal clear ones had me finding the bass rather lacking. Turns out the red ones were juuuust right.
edit: One thing I definitely noticed was how sensitive the KC06 were. It picked up the noise floor from my phone (Motorola Moto E) and Kindle Fire HD 8.9. It annoyed me.
Anyways, I spent a week away from home and I thought it would be a good idea to bring the KC06 over my M50x, given how much more portable an IEM would be over a full-sized headphone. I was using it with my laptop and D1 DAC. The sound took a bit of time to get used to. I'm much more used to my speakers and full-size headphones both in terms of comfort and sound. Bass was a bit more than I personally like still, but at least it's not out of control. Mids are where the KC06 really shines, but treble is a bit lacking and occasionally sibilant. They sound better than any cheap IEM I've tried, and they are cheap enough that I won't mind losing them or breaking them. I'm still finding myself wanting to go back to my headphones and speakers, but at least I've got something decent for when I'm on the road.
I have recieved my pair last friday. I have given them some good listening and went through some testing of the bass. I have tried all the earbuds and found the right ones for my ears. I can say that after finding the right earbuds the sound was amazing compared to my 3.5 year old Skullcandy 50/50 earphones. Those old headphones were way too heavy on Bass. These earphones do not have that, which makes them a lot more pleasant to listen to. Even though they are not that heavy on bass, after some testing there is still a deep and rich bass, but it's not overkill.
The biggest problem I had with them were the 21.50 euro import fee from the border... That kind of sucked... It was deffinetly worth it though!
Got delivered today. Never really had any good headphones so now i'm hearing fine details i've never heard before. Very happy so far. I only haven't used in-ears in a year so i need to get used to having little things hanging in my ears again.
I have a question. With the Ostrey KC06 we get 6 ear piece in the box. But next to the In ear phones there is also a Earpiece which is red .( red in the inside ) Does any one know for what is it ?
thanks , Vinesh
Vinesh
Yeah that's what I was asking about... they seem to be somewhat of a combination between the two other kinds, with a stiff center and a wide bore. Dunno why we got them though.
Vinesh
Idk what the do but I know that they break easily in the bond between the two materials
After the wait with all the distribution problems with this drop, I was really hoping for fantastic iems. First impressions were less than stellar. They seemed to lack in every way. The good news is that after about 60 hours of use, they seem to have gone through a few changes that I assume are the break in period. Now I can confirm that these are some of the best I have ever tried. I am going to save up for the kc06a, as I usually like warmer sound.
Git few days back and they are incredible so clear and with small boost in lows with my oneplus one will appeal to anyone So clear and can hear everything. I am from Latvia and got Saturday
Finally back home, and have had a little time to listen to them. Sound amazing! Will post a more detailed response once I've had more of a chance to get them burned in/get used to their sound. I would like to know, what are the 7th pair of eartips? They came in the little piece of foam that the earphones themselves were in... They seem to be different from any of the other eartips. They have stiff center, and a larger opening than the other eartips. Anyone know anything about these?
CarlFagan
From what I've heard from Barnacules's video, there's soft and harder eartips, each in 3 sizes. You need to figure out yourself which fit best.
ColonelChocomel
Right, but what I'm saying is that in addition to those eartips, there was another pair, different from the other kinds. Mine at least appeared to be slightly different packaging from what I've seen on Amazon/Headfi.
I live in England and have got mine today. Obviously I'm not so happy it took this long to get them, but the product is fantastic!
konr
Nice, guess it shouldn't take too long to get to The Netherlands then.
Mine shipped the 7th and they are still not here. Kinda sucks there is no tracking number for international shipping, this way i have no clue how much longer to wait.. 2 days or 3 weeks?
I just got mine about 30 minutes ago, I just wanted to post my initial impressions. I'm fairly new to higher grade audio gear, I also purchased the AKG k7xx for use at home and wanted the kc06 for use on the go. I have not hooked my kc06 up to my powered sound card yet, and have only as of yet used my Note 4, and im still blown away. My previous earbuds were some 2xl buds from biglots so the difference is huge. (2xl is a knock off brand owned by skull candy Im pretty sure)
The audio is so clear. Metal and rock shine, but the bass on hip hop and edm is still solid and the best I have had in ear buds. Can't wait to sit down and play some CS:GO using these things and see how the perform for gaming and spacial.
Thanks to Logan from Tek Syndicate for the review on these, I purchased them based off of his impressions.
Ill report back with my final thoughts, Also I have no static or noise from movement as others have reported from the last drop.
Steaz
Definitely let me know how they are for gaming. Will be using these on the go for sure but would be nice if i could use them for gaming too.
Sadly my left earphone doesn't work :( Hopefully I can get a replacement because I was liking the sound that came out of the right earphone lol
Update 1: Scratch that, the left earphone is now working for some odd reason, I'm guessing it needed some current to go through it and get it working. I might hold off on getting the replacement for now and see where they go in a few days
Update 2: After 45 minutes of what seemed to be fully functional earphones, the volume in the left earphone dropped to the point where it was barely audible. Definitely a defect
Oh wow... Mine are totally arriving tomorrow... One day too late. Ah well at least they'll be here for me to enjoy once I return.
Scratch that, mine's updating! it's coming from New Jersey though, so I doubt I'll be getting them before Thursday. :( Ah well, at least they're coming finally!
CarlFagan
:D mines coming tomorrow ....... The wait is finally over ^_^
Has anyone been able to track their package yet? Mine (USPS) says it cannot locate shipping information for my number.
Ddogclaw
Same, and it's been over 48 hours...
Ddogclaw
Same here
Probably won't happen but if I were to get these before Thursday I would be a very happy man.
Well, that's sooner than expected. Hopefully, that means I can start enjoying them by the weekend. Weeee!
Thought I'd never see the day.
