I use it as my front wheel lock, my bike on the other hand is locked with the NYC Mini-u fuggedaboutit
I've been liking mine so far. The reason I chose an Ottolock (I have the 18") is for how small and lightweight it is. I wanted something that could easily fit in my pocket which it does. As far as I know there isn't a better alternative. I've seen the videos and I do hope that Ottolock can come up with a tougher version.
Hello, I represent OTTOLOCK and have some thoughts. All bike locks can be defeated by a motivated thief with proper tools, technique, and time. OTTOLOCK claims appropriate level security against many forms of attack ‚Äď not any and all tools. The design intent is and has been to provide a lightweight solution to prevent opportunity theft during quick stops like getting coffee or bathroom breaks. Additionally, OTTOLOCK has always recommended redundant security with a U-lock for higher crime areas or long duration lock-ups. I guess the rep edited out the comment you quoted. Doh!

What function would your lock serve in that scenario that a $5 cable attached to the U-lock wouldn't?

Lock Picking Lawyer by chance?
Don't buy this unless you want your bike stolen. Marketed as a quick stop solution, it's not even safe then. I had a bike stolen with my back turned for MINUTES. I was able to cut through this in about a minute with WIRE CUTTERS, and there's a video making the rounds on YouTube showing tin snips cutting through in seconds. It's a good idea, but not safe. Wait for their new iteration of the lock at a minimum.

Yeah, the LockPickingLawyer cut this lock in just seconds and pretty quietly with just snips. Why you would wait for ANY iteration of the Ottolock after that is beyond me.
