Wancher makes a really nice pen display case/box. Google it. You can buy directly from the manufacturer or on eBay.

Hi Massdrop, I too would like to know if these are the old model versus the new. Overall, the version two is a better unit, so it would be nice if that is the case.

Funny how there seem to be no good options in high-end pen storage.
Vox/Venlo are expensive and I think made of real wood, but they are lined with chrome-tanned leather which supposedly may react with the plating on the pens' furniture. Or the off-gassing from the chrome compounds reacts with the plating, not sure of the chemistry involved.
Montblanc makes a pen box too, I am not sure of the quality, and it's very expensive.
Pilot + Somes collab pen box seems to be very high quality, but only holds 5 pens (plus miscellanea in the bottom drawer). Not a lot of pen storage per buck.
This Pelikan box -- I see no value in it at all. Yes, Massdrop provides a good discount off an unbelievably inflated MSRP, but that still leaves the box overpriced for what it is.

For that price, this should be wood and brass.
Also, apropos of nothing, here's my pen storage :D

Yes, I have purchased the trays from this site! I intend to make some cigar box pen holders with them, but just haven't had the time yet.

Luckily, my pelikan obsession is not to a point that I can fill a whole collectors box... only about a third, so I will stay strong and hide my wallet somewhere until this drop passes.

MezzI can't fill this yet either, but I'm having trouble staying strong and passing on this one. The discount on this drop is very good, with most stores only offering the standard 20% discount. This works out to about 44% off MSRP.

MDF, leatherette, and aluminium for $240. I'm an avowed Pelikan fanboy and even for me, I just can't see it.
I get the, "If you pay X for something, why only pay B to take care of it" arguement but for this amount of money, there have to be better options

TomaCzarYes, I was thinking the same thing. How about real walnut, leather and brass? I know, it would be expensive. This seems way overpriced for the materials. Just my opinion...

cspangl1Those, the boxes you describe, aren't very difficult to come by, if you look around on the net.
If MD decided to a drop for them, people would inevitably say: "Oh, too expensive! Why can't they do a cheaper one? Maybe a paper-wrapped, particle board version with aluminum drawer pulls?"
And then someone like you would come along and say: "How about real walnut, leather and brass?" And then someone else would say...

I certainly have no qualms with the size of the pens you mention (I have an M1000 and a few of those great Jinhoa 159s). As for people looking on, I discourage that by wearing my jackets backwards and speaking in a loud and angry voice to my sandwich or briefcase. That also helps with the other issue you raise--someone else using my pens? Never!

jmccarty3I would like to know this as well. The pictures are of the old model but that could just be whatever stock image they grabbed.
