This is a drop dead gorgeous fountain pen. I had the Fine nib ground to a cursive italic and currently have it filled with Pelikan Edelstein 'Mandarin'. A great looking combo.
why in the wide wide world of sports would you be paying this much for a PLASTIC pen. How anal compulsive must one be to shell out this form of money for a fricking fountain fricking pen. Jeus fricking christ. fricking!!!
FullObeansI was being generous. They stamp them out by the thousands on equipment they paid for years ago. Material costs are minimal, labor costs minimized.
AarsThe same happened to me. My first purchase too. Besides the photo, it is stated in the description that the pen will come is a gift box and the pouch. This is misrepresentation! Is there anything Massdrop can do?
Most people do not realize that MASSDROP is just another retailer. Moreover, the ad is deceptive stating that the pen is resin - which would justify the pricing. It is acrylic with a few small resin parts: https://thepelikansperch.com/2018/10/01/pelikan-m600-vibrant-orange-announced/
Too bad. If it were acrylic, as MASSDROP suggests, I would have been the first customer. But gold is not silver, tuna is not salmon, and this pen is not made of resin, but just a common plastic.
Not suggesting that this isn't a good price for US but, for EU buyers, Cult Pens can't be beaten at the moment. They have a 10% Fine Writing Discount AND a stacked 10% Block Friday discount bringing this pen to £303. Cult Pens doesn't have an extra charge for Extra-Fine so £303 is extra good, if you wanted that.
semkaI bought one from Nibsmith.com, and at the time of purchase Dan Smith even included nib customisation work for that price, so I got him to make a crisp italic out of a factory EF nib for me. I'm really happy with how that turned out.
(That ship has since sailed; Dan has put up the price of the M600 Vibrant Orange to US$330 even though the discount level has supposedly remained unchanged at 40% off, and now nib customisation work costs extra for that particular pen model.)
