Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. 1. x2s, from other vendors have QC issues. 2. Other vendors stop selling the x2's until the issues are corrected. 3. mass drop begins selling x2's a few weeks later at 30% off.
If I were a thinking man I would probably come to the conclusion that the stock that massdrop has is probably all affected by the QC issue. That being said 200 is a good deal,
Granted this issue was seen by amazon and the people who purchased the headphones to be big enough to get them to stop selling the headphones until it is resolved. Other than the glue being added it looks like different materiels were used and the construction was changed slightly.
I have read around the net about this and the best source I have is an amazon review from a guy named "MB" who talks about his first hand experience with the new and old styles in his review titled " Poor QC. Check your headphones. " on Dec, 17. Another sore spot in this drama is phillips customer service lying to him about the changes.
Also here is the Phillips PR addressing the issue. http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?22285-Philips-X2-Statement
I just hope Massdrop has the logistics in place for the mass return which will inevitability occur.
FWIW I have a glued WOOX pair (Amazon) which I got at a discount and am very happy with.
