I would have to agree with one comment about the price, I bought these last week for $50! New!. Free shipping. After tearing my hair out trying to decide which would be my first headphones, I went with these and happy with them. For what I paid.

‘Solid, wel-defined bass’ huh? 🤔🥱 I don’t dislike these headphones altogether, but their bass is certainly not one of their redeeming traits, either in extension, authority/punch nor texture. However, a decent soundstage, a reasonably natural tonality to the kids and decent separation and timbre throughout the FR for their price point.

drop fail. 73 bucks on Amazon with two day shipping via prime you can pony up a few more bucks and get the 9600 newer version advice to drop. Get your price point down for bulk orders. 60 bucks or bust

Nifty design too. My addiction to buying stuff i don't need would make me want to give em a try but i absolutely do not need them lol

The Philips SHP9600 are very similar open-back headphones to their predecessor, the Philips SHP9500. The SHP9600 have a sleeker, all-black design, and leak less noise. They also have a more extended bass, and they have a little extra boom and punch in the bass range that some users may prefer the shp9600 has a better treble profile and extended bass. I own both. And prefer the 9600

Oh mannnn. I have a non-Masdrop pair of these I got years ago for 50 bucks and they're really good. 50mm drivers and great response. Good bass definition that's for sure. I'm not a true audiophile, but I do like to hear the intricacies of music I listen to. They're light and great for video games, and because they're open back they're great if you live with your parents and want to be able to hear them the first time.

Not to brag but I just (like three hours ago) found a pair of these, LNIB, from a local individual on kijiji.ca for CAD$70. 🏆 Been listening to them since then. I have to thank Drop for inspiring me to check the used market before pulling the trigger on a new pair. ;) Anyway, thoughts: Compared to my HD280 Pro they sound significantly more 'open' and 'smooth'. The 280s sound 'closed in' by comparison. The bass is not as 'tight' as on the 280's but still entirely 'present' and 'focused'. The soundstage is very detailed. I can easily pick individual instruments out in space when the production contains that kind of detail. I didn't run sweeps or anything but the frequency response seems reasonably wide and even. Build quality is... good. Altogether they produce a very pleasing sound and are rather delightful for listening to music. My caveats are twofold: 1) They fit much looser than any other phone I've tried. The fit is really more of a sit-atop-the-head than clamp-over-the-ears. I feel compelled to apply pressure with my hands to get that snug skull contact I like so much in other cans. 2) The fabric is really... fabric-y. Not abrasive but not at all a soft-touch kind of feel. I don't particularly like the way it feels on my skin but YMMV. Those quibbles aside I'm entirely satisfied with these cans if not a tiny bit thrilled.

I had these and they overloaded into distortion very easily at high volumes same as the Philips X2HR's I have over 40 different headphones and these both distinguished themselves from the others in this regard

rkonowalIf you're listening loud enough to drive these into distortion then I dare say you won't be listening for very long.

HelmanfrowIf these are distorting, something is wrong somewhere, and it ain't the headphones.

Are these On-Ear or Over-Ear? With regard to the pricing from a European perspective, on the condition these are Over-Ear, this appears to be a very competitive price: €139.99 Germany (€8.67 delivered by 20th march) France, Spain & Italy are also the same + this is inc VAT £145.20 UK - UK site is a mess post Brexit! (Import Fees Deposit:€25,40 exchange€3.11 free Prime shipping by 29th) $75.65 AliExpress (shipping 17-25 days $1.47 or $46.42 7-15 days) I cannot gleam if these are On-Ear or Over-Ear? TBH, I don't trust this site much like eBay. €101 Ubuy (5-9 days €20.70 or €29.70 3-6 days) I've never used this site... $70 Drop (Standard Int. Shipping $23.00) Are MassDrop back...
