Hi, I was wondering if the converter is necessary to include if I want to refill from bottled ink?

EtaghellNot necessary. The pen comes with a refillable squeeze cartridge converter.
edit: reading below, some have said that the squeezey converter is designed for cleaning, not ink... i need to do more research.

d.j.rThat squeeze converter clogs after a while. It's not intended for ink indeed.

EtaghellWell it's called "Cleaning Converter". You can use it if you want, but it clogs with some inks. I syringe fill the cartridge and so far happy with it.

EtaghellNo. I use the filled cartridge. Empty and flush it. Fill back up with desired ink. I've been re using ones ftom pens I bought last year.

ardaThis is the correct answer, regardless of your pen. Far less mess than dipping the end of the pen in an ink bottle, and the carts usually hold more ink than the converter.

DermottI recently bought a con-40 converter from Amazon, it's been hard that dispatches to my country (my country has MR Ruropean versions) and it has some pros and cons: Pro(s): Ink does not evaporate for me anymore, like with the cartridges (I'm using J. Herbin Perle Noire). Con(s): Far less ink capacity, even less than default international converters.
