Near the dawn of the 20th Century, Landon Clayton King sought durable workwear that functioned on the farm or the hunt while retaining its rugged character. Finding none to his liking, he founded his own company and soon developed Pointer Brand coats, named after his beloved bird dogs Read More
I have committed, but am having second thoughts. In the sizing chart the graphic of the jacket shows a taper from pits to waist. But the measurements show its the same width at both points... meaning just a square boxy fit. A lot of these kind of jackets were under $50 just a few years ago, but recently 'workwear' and 'made in USA' are in fashion I guess bumping up prices on such basics. And I agree with others that 9 out of 10 (including myself) wont be using these for any work but to add a light (spring) top layer or to add a rugged look to an attire. Anyway, I compared the measurements to some of my existing jackets and not a single one matches :) The measurements on this one are all over the place. Not a single jacket I own comes close to these measurements.
A question to those who own this jacket: I wear a suit jacket size 38 (my true chest size), what size should I order? If I do order? (I am currently committed for a Small, reading from the reviews and after comparison to my existing jackets). I figure if I wax it and never wash, a small would be the way to go.... but if I hot-wash a medium and bone dry it in a dryer, it will shrink to somewhere between the S and M (no pun intended) measurements. What say?
AlexPkLOL, you are just being nice and that's great; but yeah, tell your photographer dude that we appreciate his skills as much....afterall, a much better job at representing a product than what the vendor did! Thats a huge value added right there...
Edit: there should be a way to 'credit' or 'tag' your other team members even if they are not customer-facing or are behind-the-scene, or considered back-office, or a number of things they are referred to by these days....
Funny, I was just thinking today about how much I love this jacket. The model in the pics could probably stand to size down. These things run fairly large.
For reference, I am 5'7", 165lbs, 39" chest, and a Small fits me very well with enough room to layer a sweatshirt and tee.
I'm two inches taller and 10 pounds heavier, but also have a 37" chest. I had a different style Pointer jacket in Small and it had been washed and it fit me like a shirt more than a jacket. So an unwashed Small would probably fit you.
SilverheadI have measured again and I seem to have a 38'' chest at its widest point, but pit-to-pit is about 37''. I think an S should be fine. Many thanks!
This is a really awesome jacket - I've seen them in person. For the price, I wish they weren't final sale though - They're $87 with free shipping on pointer's website, and if you bought from there, you'd have the option to return. I'd be willing to take that risk if the lowest price was more than 10 dollars off, but not as is.
