MiToThere seems to be a mistake in the Text Hobbyist render. The R4 PGUP should be a PGDN. Also, why are R1 PGUP and R2 PGDN offered in Hobbyist, if the TKL modifier kits already offer them in that profile?
MiToA bit sad there is no noire r3 1.75u control key to replace the caps lock key. There is one icon mod in the icon hobbyist kit but no one in the noire kit
Please, check my response regarding the ESC and TAB. Those two keys are needed, as they allow people to avoid getting the modifiers and just cover their keyboard with alphas, hobbyist and a spacebar.
wowremyAnother route I plan to do since I’m getting the Kira is to program the keys to match the Pulse numpad kit. I‘m Just gonna have to do this everytime I switch out sets. Small inconvenience, but at least it can easily be done and saves me the headache of trying to find keys to match the default settings. Not sure if your purpose is for compact full size keyboards like the Kira.
rowieYeah I didn't really follow any of that. Long story short Row 1 page down is necessary, and as far more common a layout then some of the other layouts the hobbyist kit is catering to.
wowremy🤔 I wonder why Mito didn’t include it then. Hope he can somehow squeeze that in if that’s the case being he mentioned that all designs for the kits are locked now.
rowieI'm pretty new to the whole custom scene, but even I can see that every 96 key layout and 1800 layout uses a Row 1 page down. They have in the hobbyist sets Row one delete and end keys but no page down... I mean I almost feel kind of bad spending this $550 on these key sets when they can't even get a common fucking layout filled.
evangsI just wanted to apologize to anyone that I may have hurt with this comment. @MiTo does great work and Pulse is a phenomenal set. He even addressed a missing key in the 40% kit quickly to fix missing keyboard support. Thank you for the work you do Mito, I'm looking forward to Laser!
MiToMiTo, please correct me if I'm wrong, but now that the renders have updated, it would appear that you've added a new 1.75u key as opposed to the 1.5u key you mentioned you were adding to cover the Minivan... There appears to still only be the one 1.5u key.
I just wanted to check in and see what you think here as it will influence my purchase decision.
Thanks!
MiToHas color-matching legends been toyed with (with the idea of doing all keys in backlight compatible)? I'm wondering how it would look with semi-translucent turquoise legends on black caps, or with smoke-grey for the dark.
MiTocurious if there is lambs + noire combo in a render (may have missed in a post somewhere here). Thinking about picking up the Zambs too but dont know how it looks like.
SinisterSoundI haven't really seen shine through SA profile caps though. The novelties in this kit is the first time that I've actually seen a proper double-shot SA shine through cap.
I always assumed this to be due to the height of the profile - the lighting may not shine though completely, or may look dimly/partially lit, especially on sculpted SA with different row heights.
The stylistic choice could be another reason - for instance, the legends on Pulse are centered on the key cap, while LEDs are usually top aligned - OEM profile caps that do shine through legends typically top align their legends so that illumination is more uniform, but this might not look just as nice on an SA cap.
It could also be that SP has some limitations ?
Other ideas anyone ?
SinisterSoundNotice how the characters are positioned on top of the keycap. That's because in order for the backlit to look properly, the typeface must be perfectly positioned at a certain region of the keycap, so the LED shines through.
Sure, this works wonders. Because that's a, let's say, Razer Blackwidow. What if the customer has a Cooler Master Quickfire RGB? His LED's will be positioned at another direction. You can't design backlit keycaps that can be sold as universal kits and expect them to look good on all different keyboards.
GMK has been doing quite a bunch of homework regarding this, though. But it comes with lots of challenges, stability of the stem, durability of the keycaps, materials used, etc. Trust me, there are guys doing college Masters regarding this topic (materials).
At the end of the day, there is a heck ton of work and technology involded behind this and the reward is marginal.
MiToCan we just do another run of this GB right now since SP is super backlogged? Pretty please? Would SP just let you add to the existing order since they haven't started yet? Lol.
ChuckDeeThat logo isn't of mine creation, but the idea is to resemble the letter "M" or simply a wavy symbol. That said, I've been working on a rebrand for the past year and it is going to debut this year, the new Pulse logo!
