Rab Boreas and Aurora Softshell Windshirts

After more than I year, I still love this windshirt. It looks a little silly with the hood up, but this is a super functional piece of gear. Packs really small, but makes a good pillow. Super breathable, but somehow still blocks out the wind. Dries insanely fast. I wear it camping, a chilly day at the beach, on a day hike, around town, and I usually throw it in my pack just in case because it is so small that it is no trouble to bring.

New Beluga just arrived. It's ~30 g lighter than a previous version I'm currently using. Waist diameter, sleeve length, and overall length seem about the same, though general feel is less blousy. Armpits are higher and tighter, (a bit tight on me, though that may stretch out) chest is tighter, (again a bit tight) hood fits more snugly (unzipped, the hood fit on me is excellent, more likely to resist blowing off). Overall a definite thumbs up. Speaking of thumbs, the only improvement I could think of for this shirt would be thumb loops. I think he sleeves are long enough to accommodate them. Note -- on a day of hard hiking, lots of vertical, good weather, I found that I never thought about the areas that initially felt tight.
