I've been wearing them a bit, and it does appear like I'm getting a bit of stretch on the straps, which is allowing my foot to move forward a bit further.
I still massively disagree with their sizing guide, though.
tylerbrainerdAfter a month of occasional wear to break these in around the house, I'm going to have to say I was entirely wrong. While I've been used to choosing sandals with a bit more overhang, these actually have ended up fitting really well. YMMV
Once they break in they'll probably be your most comfortable footwear. When I buy a new pair, (I say when because I can't see myself ever not having a pair), I dunk them in water and wear them for an hour like that. Then I wedge water bottles
in them for like a week.
I've been wearing Rainbow Sandals for over 15 years and I feel like the quality has decreased over that time. I have owned six pairs, two of which I still use. One of those pairs is the first set I purchased. The rest of them have failed due to straps pulling out and delamination. I've purchased them online and at the San Clemente outlet. Regarding the lifetime warranty, I feel like Rainbow hadn't honored their guarantee when my sandals broke. I sent over photos to substantiate the sandal failure and they didn't even offer to repair them. I also echo the comments about the break in period. This has also gotten worse. The first pair I got was instant comfort and the last few pairs took a pretty uncomfortably long time to break in... maybe the leather's different since they started outsourcing manufacturing to China. With all this said, this drop is a great deal but don't expect the new pairs to last you years and years
I came from Hari Mari's and was thinking of getting Rainbow's for a new set. These didn't fit correctly and don't look anywhere as nice in person. Doesn't seem as well made either. While understandably the price differential, why do flip flops have to cost so much now? :(
elauThing for me with Rainbows, I'm a 9.5 shoe size and the M fits perfectly so I keep going back to it. I used to get docs for $85...last pair I got were 125 and way cheaper in quality so who knows. Inflation?
I grew up 15 miles from the factory and own 2 pairs of these sandals. They are the only sandals I wear. I can comfortably walk 10+ miles in them with no foot pain. If I needed a pair, I would sign up for these in an instant.
no bullshit, i've inadvertently climbed mountains in the PNW wearing these. been my go to sandal for well over a decade now, amazing warranty though i've never needed it, as the toe web will NEVER pullout and leave you stranded with a blowout. as i said i've been a climber for over 20 years now and i used these more times than not as an approach shoe for various rock climbs, back when i first started climbing route info and locations where pretty sparse and you never really knew exactly where you were going or what the trails where like to get up there, but i liked wearing my sandals if i was going to be cramped up in rock shoes for the next several hours, these things got me up mountains and down hills and through brush that no sandal has a place being in. my repetitive poor choice in footwear is what leads me to my confidence in these sandals, they will likely outlive most people and if you do manage to wear them through after a few years i promise you, you will not feel bad about plopping the money down for another set. again, check out their warranty, and again, I've never needed it. quit cheapening out on shit flipflops, get these and never look back.
That said, they may take a minute to get comfortable, if you have weak little baby feet the web may tear up in between your toes until you get a callous, takes a few days but once they break in they are the best sandal ever and really that only happened to me the first time worse these years ago, haven't had the problem since so either they changed the sandal or my feet toughened up. reason this happens is because the material they are made from isn't going to break on you. all 4 pairs f mine that i've had in the last 15-20 years have been worn through the soles....never a problem with anything breaking or coming apart.
