Are the laces functional or decorative? Can they be changed? These look like ribbons to me.
If removable, will they be snug enough like a Chelsea if I removed the laces? Will the eyelets be visible?

I definitely see what you were referring to.
This new iteration of the Brohm features the lacing system. In all honesty, these laces are on the short side of things and when worn with jeans or regular long pants (not joggers or shorts) you can barely see them at all and makes the silhouette look very clean.
We'll keep an eye for other styles in the Chelsea sneaker/boot style, and pass on the feedback to the vendor. Thanks for your interest on this drop!

Tz2000They're in standarized US men's shoe sizes. These run TTS (true-to-size).
