CoreyXoltWhy is this a bad value? Where do you recommend I buy my first RPi and peripherals ? I'm lurking on reddit and want to create my own adblocker/firewall and throw the baddie onto the network. Thanks in advance for your reply, wishing you the best.

Dmitriy.VoroninI ordered two RPi3's from amazon for about $38 each.
it just said "top seller" or "amazon's choice" or whatever - I bought 2 from them, and had no issues.
I've read that these kits sometimes have cruddy parts packed into them (bad PowerSupply, bad SD cards, etc) - where if you bought all the parts by themselves, it's still a decent price and you know exactly what you're getting.. I can't say for sure why thee other person said it was a bad value.
My Micro SDxc Card and Card Reader came from Amazon as did my pi case and PSU (wanted to make sure I got a 2.5a, because some kits advertise their PSU as 2.5a but it's really only 2a)
I built retropies, and followed this https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation#hardware - so I'm not sure in regards to a VPN, on what you'll need.

Not sure if any of this will help you.

UsernameIsThirtyCharactersLongThanks! I'm 3D printing my case now. Bought a few of those things from goodwill like the 2.5 power cable. Going to splice a light switch or something into it to get the on off feature. SD card I bought a class 10 from amazon, and then I bought an arduino knock off from aliexpress that came with a bunch of jelly bean parts like resistors, sensors, etc. Not sure if there are any modules that I need on top of the software I'll develop for the firewall. I write middleware for companies, mostly in C, so this isn't my first hello world project. Just not sure what my hardware constraints are. Thanks again for reply. Set forth and tally hoooo
