For anyone that is tired of Massdrop dragging their feet on the plate, here's a drawing of the correct missing cutout. The promo pictures seem to include a spot for a longer spacebar stab, but If you just want to put a switch there, this will do. Any machine shop should be able to use this to cut the plate, or you can use it to cut it yourself. A drill and small file are enough to get the job done, with regular measurements with a pair of calipers.
TooTallTimI made a 3d print of basically a cherry keyboard layout, cropped out a row and took advantage of the 5mm space of the knobby part to create a stencil which aligns itself exactly but me extruding a sort of a key that fits snugly into the edge of the key next to it.
I stenciled from the bottom and dremel'd (with a printed grip to let you hold the dremel more like a pen instead of a wand) the hole out.
