What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

Things that I like about the product:
1) POM keycaps!! Even if the lettering comes off POM is so rare and nice to type on that I'll just deal with it. [PS: MD since you are so cozy with Noppoo - how about a POM keycap drop?]
2) Though the author (and the people he is writing to) think that less tactility is bad - I'm all for as light and linear as possible. In fact I would be excited if a 35g variant existed. But 45g (40g?) sounds right up my alley.
3) Shorter key throw than regular Capacitive - I think 4mm is too long which is why I like Alps so much. Plus I'm too lazy to mod so it's nice it comes from the factory like this.
4) Thinner metal plate and stock dampening might actually make this comfortable to type on. I find the Realforce and Novatouch keyboards hard on my fingers/joints after a given point in time.
5) Hardwired cable - personal preference.
??? Not sure about 'whistling' ... will have to try and see. However knowing the review was based on uber thin ABS caps, maybe the thick POM will cover some of that up.
