If you were to pull elements from a grandfather clock and shrink them down to fit inside a watch, you may come up with something similar to the Sea-Gull D819.428 Automatic. With Roman numerals, an open-heart case, and a large onion crown, the watch gives off a vintage feel—but it’s certainly not stuck in the past. Sea-Gull is actually the world’s largest producer of watch movements. This timepiece features a 29-jewel movement known as ST2502, with a 40-hour power reserve. Take a peek at it through the open-heart cavity on the front, or flip it around and look through the display case back.
Note: This drop is limited to 40 units.
Predominantly silver and white, the dial features both a day and date sub dial at 9 and 3 o’clock respectively. The pearly dial is slightly offset by the hands and complications. More specifically, the blue Breguet-style hands and the subtle red “Sun” at 10 o’clock create a nice contrast for better visibility. Each hand has a circular cutout, too, which is a nice tie-in to the other spherical elements—like the rounded stainless steel case, onion crown, and domed sapphire crystal. This Sea-Gull is also water resistant to 50 meters.
