this seems really overpriced for what it offers and it can't be reprogrammed so it has no extended capabilities outside tetris
as someone who has tetris on the switch i really have to wonder why this cost more than a full tetris and puyo puyo (hybrid) game with way more features options and puyo puyo
if it were a lot less expensive i could see it as a solid pocket tetris machine but $45 is a pretty huge asking price
PointyI have one myself and they are produced by Arduboy and licensed by Tetris themselves it has all the factors of newer Tetris's like T-spins and the ghost block but I do agree the price tag it somewhat high but if you love Tetris it's worth it.
ureiThere is actually a video of it on their youtube channel:

I have no clue why they wouldn't put it on the drop page. Its extremely useful to see how big it is in someone's hands and what the display looks like.
There are more interesting and addictive ways to play Tetris depending on what techniques are being used!

Recognizing and setting up for T spin doubles is stupid satisfying imo, its not always about waiting for that one I piece!
There's also a score chart in the given manual and it says it gives even more points than a tetris too.
There's also T spin triples which I still haven't wrapped my head around how to setup, but are messier to clean up afterwards. There's another play style called four wide which is building specifically to clear lines with a large 4 block wide gap in the middle, still yet to learn that one, very tricky stuff.
So when you say it's built around nostalgia, I highly disagree, its one hella addicting thing and its the most portable one around. I mean, you don't want to waste your phone battery right? Plus this fits inside a wallet just fine, not an amazing add to mass.
When I saw Arduboy and Tetris I was quite excited about this. Then I come to the discussion and find that although it has the word Arduboy in the title that it can't be programmed. Talk about disappointment!
UPDATE: There's definitely T-spins, part stalling, and even piece climbing! (rotating from a lower level to a higher one depending on surface pattern and piece)
Definitely worth the money, it's so perfect for those moments where you feel like you're waiting for ages on something.
Can this be reprogrammed like the regular arduboy? If so, the 50$US tag isn't bad at all since that roughly just makes it a landscape formfactor that comes preloaded with Tetris. If it cannot be reprogrammed, it's a bit steep.
halosghostNo. Tetris is licensed and they've probably set some 'fuses' in the ATmega 328 to stop reprogramming.
From a forum post, the original version had a second 'chip' (processor?) that could be programmed. But that was removed from the final version and some people are not happy.

ImroykunThe people are "happy" because there problem got resolved if you read the entire post thread. The programmer for this game was very receptive and deligant in the way he handled it. Everyone was left happy.
