A 48-millimeter case is big by any standard. Luckily, this solar-powered Seiko is chock full of functionality to warrant it. First, it has a chronograph that’s controlled via the pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock. Next is the date window, operated by the knurled crown at 3. Finally, there’s the telemeter, a device that can be used to measure how far away a sound is—like a bolt of lightning or a gunshot. All that is packed into a rock-solid stainless steel case and mineral crystal, owing to the timepiece’s 100-meter water resistance rating. Available in four styles, the watch comes on a metal bracelet or a rubber strap if you want something even sportier.
