Product Description
Crafted in the ratchet-belt style—originally used in the Russian military—the SlideBelt doesn’t come cut with any holes, which means one size fits all. With traditional belts, every time you pull them closed the holes are put under serious strain, which can lead to cracking and discoloration in the leather Read More

User review here! I've had this belt for 9 months. I'm slightly overweight, and have digestive issues, so I needed a belt with more flexibility than the typical 5 hole model. I'm kind of hard on my clothing as well, I'm Desktop IT Support so I do a lot of crawling under desks, carrying boxes, etc. I really enjoyed this belt the first 6 months I had it. After 6 months, the plastic teeth in the belt that the buckle hooks on to began to break, and now it's in two pieces instead of one long row. Not a big deal, it still functions, but it plays hell sometimes when I try and take it off. Otherwise, the belt is pretty nice. I got the cheaper model and it looks better than your typical off-the-shelf belt. The buckle got banged up pretty good. I wear my shirts tucked in most days, so the belt was exposed to a lot of wear and tear. The coating has wore off in places. It still functions just fine, it's just a little less pretty.

ProtoTRDHi ProtoTRD,
I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with the belt. We would be more than happy to replace the strap with the broken "plastic teeth." All you have to do is reach out to our guest service team at support@slidebelts.com or give us a call at (888) 754-3311.

These belts are a rip-off of the Kore Essentials Trakline belts. If you're interested in this type of belt check them out at koreessentials.com . They are significantly more durable. I suggest their gun belts that are reinforced with a plastic core while still having the high end look that is at home while wearing a suit.
sheffieldsgFirst off, Kore Essentials started in 2013, where as SlideBelts started way back in 2007. Secondly, they use a public patent buckle, just like all the other companies, where as we have our own patented buckle system. Lastly, we are the only company to offer Full-Grain Leather, as well as a weather proof 1.5" wide Survival Belt with a knife, ferro fire starter rod, LED flashlight, and bottle opener. Please take a look at our site for more details on these belts. -Bryan

EsteldinFactually incorrect... you can not get the top or full grain belts on Amazon for anywhere near $20.
The least expensive version on Amazon are a couple canvas strap versions for $29

EsteldinI saw a knockoff made with crappy bonded leather in walmart for that. I have no reason to think Amazon has some magical source of cheap full grain leather.

I have many of their belts with different buckles and straps. I have only had one buckle fail (rivet failed) and I called SlideBelt and they sent me replacement at no cost. Excellent product and excellent customer service.

Just a warning to anyone who does actual labor all day every day: these kinds of belts don't hold up that well. It's great for a fashion accessory or someone not moving around a ton. but bonded leather belts always fail. You'll be lucky to get a year out of it if you're really moving around at your job. I really want to get another one, but I just can't justify the cost for something I know is a disposable product for me. If someone could find a way to make this mechanism work without resorting to cheap bonded leather I'd be so very happy.

pisceaHey Piscea,
SlideBelts actually never uses bonded leather or polyurethane filler in our products, and if they do wear out, we have a great support team that can help you out with 99.9% of issues with them. You may want to try the Survival Belt for a heavy duty product that can handle the labor you are putting in as well https://www.slidebelts.com/products/survival-belt

I don't know this brand of ratchet belts. How ever I've tried this kind before and I think there are other brands that might be as good as this one, giving us a much better deal. A company like Anson belts, has a gift package which you get 2 or 3 buckles plus 2 or 3 straps for $100 giving us a lot of combinations to work with. Just a thought!

yes, you can switch buckles between brands, as long as the straps are the same width. All mine are the same width and I swap occasionally.

I have Slidebelts Full Grain & canvas belts, as well as a couple of Anson belts... it's not much of a contest, the Slidebelts are superior in every way. Far superior buckle release and the ability to get much higher quality straps (Full Grain and Top Grain... Anson are lower quality Genuine Leather).
Also, the pricing here is incredible... just a full grain slidebelt strap is $65, entire belt is $85. To get it here for $50 is quite a deal. Just wish they had some of their other strap/buckle combinations. I'm not "feeling" any of these.

How stiff are these belts? In other words, would they work with a firearm holster?

Don't really care what "Bryan at slide belts" replies with, I have been through a lot of these belts and, while there are some different styles of manufacturing and ratcheting and whatnot, they're mostly all the same. I have 2 belts from Amazon that I got for $20 a piece that have served me just fine for well over a year now, almost 2 and no signs of giving up. I wear one of them every day and conceal carry a p938 under them while doing so. You can tell they're not new but they don't look worn out.
I'm sure these are made out of unobtanium with specially designed materials, engineered with premium design styles and backed by a 2000 year warranty, but I don't care. Buy one get one free at this price on Amazon. There definitely are crappy ones there (another $20 failed me within a few months) but I'm coming on 2 years now on my current belts.
Basically is it worth some research to you. To me it was. I'm sure if these break too soon they will fix it. But I'm pretty sure this particular belt can be more or less had on Amazon for $20 under a different brand, regardless of what Bryan would like me to think.
bigbadbradThese $20 belts you bought are probably filler Genuine leather with a plastic coat. The big difference with SlideBelts is just the leather quality that we offer, as well as our patented buckle system. We are the only ratchet belt company that offers Genuine, Top-Grain, and Full-Grain leather straps. I understand what you are saying about saving a buck or two, but I think you get what you pay for. We offer the best guest service while also being a small business in California. I always think that you could buy Marshmallow Mateys for $2.00 less, but their just not the same as the real Lucky Charms.
