Crafted in the ratchet-belt style—originally used in the Russian military—the SlideBelt doesn’t come cut with any holes, which means one size fits all. With traditional belts, every time you pull them closed the holes are put under serious strain, which can lead to cracking and discoloration in the leather Read More
Seems like a great belt so far for the several months I've owned one. It gets worn 5 days a week for work and then Sunday for church. I was concerned about the ratchet insert maybe not holding up after reading some comments about how it had come apart. Mine is holding up great so far. Mine still looks great as well except for some wear on the leather from my phone holster but that's the fault of the holster. I'm happy with these belts and would purchase one again if mine ever wears out.
I've had two of these belts for years now and they are still functioning great. The leather has a bit of etching from the clasp, so if you have fluctuated in weight during Covid you can see the marks on the belt, but its not too noticeable. The thing I was afraid of was the mechanism failing over time, but it still works as well as it did on day one. The buckle does etch a bit, but you can't expect it not to over time. I'll buy another for variety if it pops up again.
...I’ve got it down to a science, I can put it on with a slight lift on the buckle lever for completely silent operation. This is very handy when sitting and relieving some tension in the belt for comfort, then quickly and quietly setting the right tension again for standing. This makes for a very comfortable all-around belt. Great value for the quality, I like it and would recommend it, especially for anyone who would find two settings comfortable.
Mine has an issue where the buckle doesn’t seem tight. It’s been like this since I bought it a year ago. You can see in my second picture what I mean. Very little pressure was put on it and the buckle doesn’t sit flush. This means the buckle usually clicks with every step I take and I have to put my hand on it to stop it.
Vlo411That looks like the ratchet system is too loose. I had that happen and used a screwdriver and neednose pliers to bend a bit to keep the "teeth" in place. I mean this little lift happens in this style but it doesn't loosen. I have a few of these ratchet system belts and had the slidebelt for about 3 years and been wearing it at least once a week since I got it.
I have had other brands that loosened on normal wear and I got in touch with the brands and they sent me a replacement. YMMV, but you can ask slidebelt if there's anything they can do to correct the situation.
I have 5 ratcheting belts and have been wearing them for work since 2012. This is the first brand I started out with and are decent and would give it a 4 out of 5 stars. My only other issue was that the belt's inner lining was cracking and was told that it was because the initial designs had micro fiber linings, which I thought was soft leather lol. Not saying this is the case here, but just saying that other things can happen even with the competitor's items. The other con, is that these buckles seem to be a bit heavy for my taste. I am ok with it, but just a heads up.
I loved the concept and also the belt while it lasted, but it did not last. These don't ratchet against the leather, they go against plastic ribbed inserts in the underside of the belt. I have no problem with that but unfortunately the ribbed inserts did not last as long as an ordinary leather belt. Even the bels I got in this drop are fine but unusable because of the disintegration of the plastic bits.

As someone who can never find the correct belt size, these ratchet belts are perfect. Just make sure you measure it around your waist and give it another 2 inches to make sure you don't cut off too much
Another lost/broken pin (see numerous other negative reviews). Love the way it works, love the almost infinite adjustability (great eating belt). Mine lasted 3-1/2 years, which is why I give it 2 stars instead of 1, but something this simple (and expensive) should last longer. Regular belt buckles do (they are still in perfect working condition when I outgrow the belts). My belt was not dropped, stepped on or smacked against anything, it seems to have just succumbed to metal fatigue. If they revise the pin fastener to be more durable, I would give it another chance, but not the way it is now.
