If you’re keen on saving space without sacrificing features, the Smart Duck XS61 is right up your alley. This 60% layout has a full set of numbers and arrows and does away with some of those keys you probably never use: delete, page up/down, end, etc. If you want to customize your layout, use the included driver software to take advantage of macros and custom commands Read More
So basically we can use kailh or gateron switches which would make this hot swappable like the drop premium boards? Confused about "Kailh hotswap sockets, but the specs show Gateron hotswap sockets."
Board looks exactly like the KH61 on drop; 5 pin and 3 pin compatible, keycaps are decent, detachable USB-C. Check out my review on the KH61 if you’re curious.
I have the xs84 and the xs87. The software is nice. Though, when it is running it disables the ability to change settings from the keyboard, it has to be done through the software.
Details section shows Kailh hotswap sockets, but the specs show Gateron hotswap sockets. Which one is it? Although I recall seeing Gateron announcing their version of hotswap sockets, I have never seen them in the wild. Anyone know what the differences are, if any?
I assume you meant Kailh and Gateron. Apparently Outems stems are narrower than those on Cherry MX. If it were an Outemu socket, it would likely not accept non-Outemu switches. Outemu stems OTOH by most accounts can be used in Kailh sockets.
fivetwelvethis keyboard actually accepts both Outemu and other normal stuff like Gateron. but thanks for informing me of the difference between Outemu and Gateron, I didn't know that!
I got the last drop of this board and, while it is a decent board, it is definitely cheap, hollow-sounding and loud. This board with browns feels like a gritty red, but sounds like by boards with blues or greens in them. The keycaps are thin and cheap feeling and the keeb is not that much heavier than my Logitech SE mouse with the weight installed. I have never had any problems with the board and I do use is many nights during the week when I just want backlight and don't care about feel or other aesthetic things. I still feel like it would have been a better deal buying for $10 cheaper on Amazon with free shipping on top of the discount.
Anyone know if controls like CTRL-ALT-DEL or ALT-F4 work on this keyboard? I have used other keyboards with FN and the just wont do it. I also have a special case where my Steam overlay is CTRL-Shift-Home. Just wondering if it will work.
