ZeosPanteraJust got mine and it came with a different remote with a different button layout and it uses two AA batteries, so it also a little thinker.
Also the power cord that came with mine is about 3 feet(ish) long and the white USB cable is about 4 feet(ish) long, the one in your review looked like it was longer.
I don't think it a big deal, but there are some difference from what I got.
KidklugUpdate: AD18 has more than enough power for the Jamo C93 bookshelves, I haven't turned up the volume past 22 because it's so darn loud. Using the SDB - EQ I've had to turn the Bass down to -1dB to watch tv/movies. For music it does sound good to turn up the Bass to 2dB. I'm still needing to find out what works best for switching btw tv and music. I like the AD18, but it is going to take some time to figure out. I did post a question on Reddit, Klug83 : https://www.reddit.com/r/BudgetAudiophile/comments/5o9bm8/anyone_have_experience_with_the_smsl_ad18/
To figure out a buzzing problem while using the optical in via toslink.
Those Klipsch are a much better choice for the TEAC than the less-efficient B&W601se or the Affordable Acuracy Monitors I have for desktop duty.
Can't wait to the hear the HD6XX. Never had HPs that cost more than $100 before. If the TEAC doesn't cut the mustard, I'll look into Emotiva or Schiit.
So if I get this right; this has no line-out.
Hence to use the multiple power speaker sets I have and use an Amazon echo as BT input, I'm basically better-off looking elsewhere?
Shame as this would otherwise have been the missing piece of my home audio setup...
I took the time to post the official SMSL diagram of the back of the unit, which is more than Massdrop did. (Amazingly, they don't even shown a photo of the back of the unit on the main page!)
If you'd have asked, I would have explained to you the function and benefit of having a true analog "Line Out". But after your post full of "dickheadedness", I'll leave that up to you.
For owners (and prospective owners) of the AD18, you can just use its headphone jack as a Line Out substitute.
Yes, if you use the headphone jack on the front as your Line Out for your powered Klipschs. The 3.5mm jack on the rear is a Sub Out on one channel only.
IppoJIt's a sub out, but the sound that comes out of it isn't what you would expect a normal subout would be. You will hear normal audio out of it.. You'll need a separate powered sub with it's own input levels for it to sound as best as it can.
What terrible pictures. Why not show a picture of the entire back so we can see the connections and maybe turn on a light? Instead they are trying to be all artistic/drastic in the photos of a 150 dollar DAC/AMP.
Hi! I'm looking exactly for this, but instead of the amp out I need a pre-amp out since I have active studio monitors.
I'm looking for the remote, bluetooth in, toslink in, analog in, and pre-amp out. Does anybody know anything like this in the same price range?
