I just received this DAC/Amp and am not very happy. Biggest issue is USB receiver chip is CMedia and it only supports 16 bit 48 Khz max in normal Windows mode. In ASIO it probably supports higher, but it will only works for music. For movies or games - you are out of luck. I tried optical from PC (my card has SPDIF) and it supports 24 bit 192 Khz. But the sound is far from perfect. I expected more from AK4490 DAC. It just sounds tinny. Even after burning in for 48 hours. I'm at loss now - don't know which DAC to go with. I have very positive experience with ES9018 based DACs, but their bigger models cost too much. Can't trust SMSL now, otherwise would have gone with M8.
bravomailI agree with Geodnb, you are doing something wrong. Running in windows and everything else, it always displays 24/192 on the screen on the M6, because that is what I have windows set to, you can't have windows set to bitrate "A" and the M6 set to bitrate "B". The only time it changes is if my songs are a different rate in my audio player, which gets priority over windows.
What do you mean it sounds tiny? Sounds like it's your headphones or audio source. Maybe try listening to exactly the same things with the same headphones at your friends amps.
You don't need to burn in the M6 is a solid state amp, don't waste your time. You only need to burn in headphones.
bravomailI have mine running at 32/384 in Windows 10 (I'm on latest creator's update), before they only allowed up to 32/192. ASIO will change based on media being played, on DSD files it goes to the higher frequency of that format.
