heddehsony is still recovering from kumamoto earthquake, which manufacturers their sensors.. it's expected that we get a delay on the refresh cycle.
we don't even have news for a7iii yet, which the a7ii is already 2 and a half years old, I doubt we will get a refresh for a7r ii any time soon
hlau_0true. however we might hear some news on the A7III in 2Q.
but i mean why spend 2.5k on something that is going to be replaced within a year or so. lol
unless you are a baller then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
sony does at least 1 update for the A7 series each year so, there is going to be a new camera. or it might be the A9.
heddehi'm waiting for the a7iii myself too, i sure hope there's something in Q2
a7rii is still a damn good camera though, but this is not the price that i'd buy it for
hlau_0The a7 III won't have a sensor this good. So depending on what (and how) you shoot, this could be the better deal. The a7rII is the most "future proof" camera that think has ever been made in the digital age. FWIW.
LarryTquite honestly a7rii is out of my budget as I would also get a few e mount lenses, I was gonna get the a7ii but I thought I would wait for the next one just because it seems to be almost the end of the cycle, if a7rii was cheap enough I would definitely get it, its sensor like you said is pretty damn amazing, though I am not doing much if any professional work I don't think I would need that extra mp
heddehBecause the A7rII isn't going anywhere. A7rIII, A9... whatever it'll be called, will most likely be an even more expensive gear like the A6000, A6300, and the A6500. The A7III is most likely going to remain in 24mp but with A6500-like updates. A7rII is getting old, but it's still a solid camera and will continue to be so unless another camera in its price range contends it.
heddehBecause folks wouldn't be here if they weren't interested in saving a few dollars. The new "R" whatever it's called "A7Riii; A9; etc" is going to cost as a minimum $1200 more... likely closer to $4000
The a7Rii is a great camera
