Maybe the 100-400mm... I know, a dream. But, one can dream.
Who voted for this lens...? I'm sure the people would agree that any GM lens would be the fan favorite around here.

ah! If you're on a FF then it wouldn't work. MD never drop emounts :(
Ywmun
Yeah that's why I'm asking them to see what they can do because there are a lot of FF shooters. I don't have anything against APS-C but I'd prefer FF.
How about some actual mass drops on e mount lenses
This is ~$190 on Amazon. What am I missing?
Majorpanic
i'd rather support massdrop than amazon.
arielfabulous
why? I mean really what difference does it make if we spend our money on Amazon or here. As far as camera gear I rather at least give it to a local shop and support them when the prices are reasonable. That way it helps keep the money in your community, but I don't see the difference in spending money with Amazon, B&H photo, or mass drop?
any chance of sigma lenses for e-mount?
Woooooow a drop on a kit lens 😒

Any fast lenses for e mount. Putting up a kit lens that you can easily find on amazOn for about the same price is pretty pointless.
Silentism
right?
A Sony 90mm f 2.8 FE macro lens drop would perfect..
guys is there any duty and vats when u buy items off this website? Because i live in canada
More Sony E-Mount please! If you guys post the 30mm Macro or the 18-105 F/4, I'd buy them both.
Honorable mention for the 20mm pancake or the 12mm Rokinon.
Would rather they bring back macro lens.
Wondering if a cheap lens with middling specs can take beautiful photos?
I assure you that it can, and all images in this (https://m.imgur.com/a/tenAt) album were taken with this lens, if you're looking for some references. Sony's software performs extremely well, and the OSS can really help you get those sharp pictures you're looking for -- none of these photos were taken on a tripod. This isn't a professional quality lens, but with a little luck and a good eye it will deliver some beautiful photos. I personally shoot mostly with a piece of Zeiss glass these days, but if you're looking for the cheapest way to shoot some wildlife, this is the lens for you, and I think you'll be pleased with your purchase; It offers:
+ Smooth and fast autofocus + Excellent OSS (Stabilization) + Decent zoom range + Solid build quality + Few visual artifacts + Works seamlessly with camera + Overperforms price range
- Beginner lens - Low f-stop range - Weak low light performance (Sony's iso is admirable, but you just need those wide apertures for truly great low light photos)
Wondering if you should buy this lens from Massdrop?
Maybe, but I'd strongly advise you google around a bit first: this lens is sold by most online retailers, and I occasionally see it at better prices -- particularly if you're not afraid to buy used.

yeah! The 16-50 kit lens. I have the a6000 as well and that lens died on me after like 2-3 years. I bought the 55-210 and it was so much better in quality. I do admit when you use the zoom it does reduce the quality, which does suck. But overall for ME the pictures were definitely higher quality with this lens. Not sure why we have different experiences with it, kind of sucks..
I bought the manual lens from 7artisans the 25mm F1.8 lens... for $80 and the clarity is AMAZING....but no zoom which I'm fine with. I was trying to replace my kit lens with something less expensive until I buy another lens (which will probably be macro) and this lens is superb, and cheap.
How much was your sigma?
CoffeeWitch
I paid € 349 for it. Worth every penny. And I now really want the 16mm 1.4 as well! And the kit lens might not be the best, but the convenience of it, is great!
F/4.5-6.3? Meh....

To quote a fellow Massdropper: " From all the good lenses out there to get a massdrop deal, this one is the one that we get a drop of? Disappointing. "
hgoor
I'd be glad to see some fixed "puncakes"... But still this one is a good drop i don't get your negativity :D
From all the good lenses out there to get a massdrop deal, this one is the one that we get a drop of? Disappointing.
International spec available from Amazon right now for $204 - black, $203 - silver. Or, if you want to get ballsy, $170 "used - good" in black and $150 "used-acceptable" in silver from warehouse deals. I paid $197 new for the US version lens, hood, UV filter, and various crap from an Amazon 3rd party vendor last February. Shop around.
Not exactly cheap.seems u can get similar prices online elsewhere
Just found this exact one for $189, with free US shipping. Considering the time it takes to receive this from Massdrop, this certainly doesn't tickle my fancy.

Please post a link so we all can take advantage of a better deal as we always want whats best for the community.
Doing a search myself I see that SLR Direct comes up with the price you mentioned but I would have to caution you unless you have actually purchased from this site please search for reviews of the site not just the price.
Cheers!
Jaysun
This is an international model, not one with US warranty. This is available on worlds largest web retailer as well as worlds largest auction site, for the same price, with 30 day return.
How does "International Spec" affect warranty issues? Do we just contact Massdrop, and then Massdrop contacts Sony? Will we ever be dealing with Sony directly? Is it the coverage in any way different than if it were a US warranty? Looking for a Massdrop representative to answer this; thanks in advance!
KTO1
Most major electronics mfr have US subsidiaries. These subsidiaries will only service items sold through their distribution network (mostly because they get to make more money that way). Their warranty support for items purchased through dealers in other countries is usually limited (and in some case unavailable).
as I said before... Sony Alpha-5000 + this lens + 16-50mm f/3.5 OSS 449€ on amazon.es
$198 is cheap....but f/6.3 is slow.... Going to contemplate this one. EDIT: not contemplating anymore. Don't want to wait 7 weeks for a slow zoom lens. I ordered a monitor from this site and it's shipping was delayed an entire month. Will likely get it 2 months after ordering. Unacceptable. RIP me and anyone who buys from here.
Just saying, I got the sony A-5000 few days ago with this lens + 16-50mm f/3.5 OSS by 499€ on amazon.es Same kit was in December 50€ cheaper, 449€
Does this come with a warranty?
I'm excited to jump on board this one! I picked up the a6000 about a year ago and have been playing with the 16mm prime. It's been great for action/landscape and this should fill a big hole.
If anyone has any questions about this lens, feel free to ask, I've been using it since last June, and I can say it's definitely worth the price massdrop is asking. It really excels at wildlife shots in particular, this zoom on Sony's cropped sensor really performs.
It seems like this is the only e-mount lens that ever drops, which is disappointing given that the full-frame bodies (which this doesn't work very well on) have dropped a few times is the last months. Can we please get some FF lens drops, or at least some different APSC lenses? There are lots of good ones out there.
Wow. I've been stalking massdrop hoping for an E-mount drop and it's one I already own :( I personally would LOVE for you to offer a drop on the great little pancake lens (Sony SEL-20F28 E-Mount 20mm F2.8). I'be been wanting it for a while, but it NEVER goes on sale anywhere. It would make my alpha-6000 truly pocket-sized. I know you can take better pics with other lenses, but that's irrelevant if you left your camera at home because it's too big. That was the draw of the smaller camera - great photo quality from a camera near the size of a point and shoot. Point being, I would love to buy this lens, but I haven't been willing to pay the full $350 price tag. I prefer to feel like I got a deal. I wonder if anyone else agrees? I'm hopeful this first E-mount drop opens the door for others in the future.
JonJ
I picked up the 16mm pancake off amazon, sold by BestBuy refurbished. After using it for about a year I would gladly pay full price for it if I had to.
So bummed I missed this deal. I don't see many deals for E-mount lenses.

The Deal's back
10 out of 10 stars
Glad to see some E mount on massdrop. Would join but already have this for my a6000. For a hobbyist, this is an outstanding lense.
Wonderful deal, but how will this lens work when paired with a full frame E-mount sensor like the A7ii's? I love that Massdrop is showing the E-mount some love, though.

" the quality of the image should be better due to the higher pixel count across the apsc portion of the full frame sensor. "
This is completely untrue. The A7ii has a 24MP sensor, as do the a6500/6300/6000/5100. Sony uses an APSC crop factor of 1.5, which means that in crop mode, you divide the horizontal and vertical pixel counts by 1.5 on the full-frame sensor. That means that you have an image size of 2667x4000 pixels instead of 4000x6000 - that's a 10MP image. The pixels are *larger*, so they'll collect more light and have better low-light performance, but it will be a lower-resolution image than the native APSC camera.
DavidSHov
I've used this lens with my Sony A7s II and have had good results (considering the very low price point and the fact that this is not a full-frame lens). It will mount to that body (as should anything "E-Mount") and auto-focus and electronic aperture control should work OK. If you use it with that camera in normal (i.e. full frame) modes, you will see large dark areas around the borders (especially at greater magnification values on the lens). However, with the A7s II (and probably many other models in the range), you can accommodate for this by enabling "APS-C/Super 35 mm" mode or by simply increasing the camera's internal digital zoom value from 1.0x up to 1.5x or 1.6x.
Will it come with some kind of warranty?
