More Sony E-Mount please! If you guys post the 30mm Macro or the 18-105 F/4, I'd buy them both.
Honorable mention for the 20mm pancake or the 12mm Rokinon.

Who voted for this lens...? I'm sure the people would agree that any GM lens would be the fan favorite around here.

ah! If you're on a FF then it wouldn't work. MD never drop emounts :(

YwmunYeah that's why I'm asking them to see what they can do because there are a lot of FF shooters. I don't have anything against APS-C but I'd prefer FF.

Wondering if a cheap lens with middling specs can take beautiful photos?
I assure you that it can, and all images in this (https://m.imgur.com/a/tenAt) album were taken with this lens, if you're looking for some references. Sony's software performs extremely well, and the OSS can really help you get those sharp pictures you're looking for -- none of these photos were taken on a tripod. This isn't a professional quality lens, but with a little luck and a good eye it will deliver some beautiful photos. I personally shoot mostly with a piece of Zeiss glass these days, but if you're looking for the cheapest way to shoot some wildlife, this is the lens for you, and I think you'll be pleased with your purchase; It offers:
+ Smooth and fast autofocus + Excellent OSS (Stabilization) + Decent zoom range + Solid build quality + Few visual artifacts + Works seamlessly with camera + Overperforms price range
- Beginner lens - Low f-stop range - Weak low light performance (Sony's iso is admirable, but you just need those wide apertures for truly great low light photos)
Wondering if you should buy this lens from Massdrop?
Maybe, but I'd strongly advise you google around a bit first: this lens is sold by most online retailers, and I occasionally see it at better prices -- particularly if you're not afraid to buy used.

yeah! The 16-50 kit lens. I have the a6000 as well and that lens died on me after like 2-3 years. I bought the 55-210 and it was so much better in quality. I do admit when you use the zoom it does reduce the quality, which does suck. But overall for ME the pictures were definitely higher quality with this lens. Not sure why we have different experiences with it, kind of sucks..
I bought the manual lens from 7artisans the 25mm F1.8 lens... for $80 and the clarity is AMAZING....but no zoom which I'm fine with. I was trying to replace my kit lens with something less expensive until I buy another lens (which will probably be macro) and this lens is superb, and cheap.
How much was your sigma?

CoffeeWitchI paid € 349 for it. Worth every penny. And I now really want the 16mm 1.4 as well! And the kit lens might not be the best, but the convenience of it, is great!

To quote a fellow Massdropper: " From all the good lenses out there to get a massdrop deal, this one is the one that we get a drop of? Disappointing. "

I joined the Sony Alpha 6000 drop and should be getting that in the upcoming days. Need some guidance from someone with a little more experience. Should I get in on this drop now or play around with my new camera and kit lens for a a few weeks before dropping money on this new lens? Thanks for any input!

RheinmanThis is actually sort of a kit lens, but it is definitely worth considering, you also need to consider if you need this type of lens. Also personally not a fan of the 16-50 kit lens, that thing distorts like crazy.

RheinmanIt really depends on what type of photography you want to do. For wildlife or sports, this 55-210 isn't a bad lens to get started in those areas, and the price is pretty decent. I bought one shortly after getting my a6000, and I use it quite often. Enjoy your new camera!

Nice price on this lens. Any chance to get a drop on an E mount G series or Zeiss lens?

I just bought the 18 -200 mm lens, not the LE version, used from lens authority for $520 with VG condition and extra $14 for the extended warranty, lens was in good shape, minor scratches on the body, no problem with the glass, will be doing some testing on it.

JunyangI ended up getting the 18-200 power zoom model (I also do video) a few months after my earlier post. It was a combination of Amazon Warehouse deals that got a huge markdown in the end. Technically used, but not a mark on it. I think it had just been in a damaged box because there's no sign it had ever been out of the plastic before I got it, not even a fleck of dust.
It's considerably sharper than the 55-210 and the zoom ranges are pretty perfect for my needs. I didn't end up at CES this year, but it's still coming in handy for other things. I have a few lenses, but I keep the 18-200 on my camera when it goes back in the case since it's easily the most used. I still need to sell the 55-210 (and maybe the 16-50) because it's completely useless to me now.

Is @Massdrop not able to get Sony GM lenses or maybe e-mount versions of other third party lenses (Sigma, Tamron, etc.)? I still think that the Sony shooters would appreciate better lens drops.

SulZwe keep asking over and over and over and over and over, and its kit lens crap after kit lens. We got the Zeiff 55mm once which was nice though. But outside of that not seen a reasonably good sony drop. I want a damned 35mm 1.4 or ANY G master lens.
